Indian Upward Bound David Mergler Ron Voss, Scott Egan, Mark McCollough row: Jon Fidelman, Cathy Muller. Dan Fair De Foe, and Donna Thomps n Indian Upward Bound (IUB) is a program to prepare Indian students for college. The college preparatory program is designed to meet the academic and motivational needs of Indian high school students, from low income families, and those who are the first generation to attend college. IUB is Funded by the U.S. Department of Education and is also sponsored by the University of Minnesota. IUB provides the following services to its students: a six-week summer residential program held on a college campus, counselors within the school, personality, academic, career counseling, and many other services. In return, the IUB students are expected to: attend a summer of academic performance, and other activities sponsored by IUB. Students who are selected to join IUB have met the eligibility requirements set forth in federal guidelines. 21

Debate Team Debate Team is a new but formal type of competition that rejoined North as of this year. The students debate on one topic per year across the country and are held without conflict at state and national competitions. Matt Clayton Quiz Bowl Minnesota Quiz Bowl” is a radio program for all High School Students. Teams from 32 of the high schools compete in four divisions of eight teams each in round robin competition. Four students meet for two or three matches on each of the three evenings. The 10 students went during Black History month, they had the opportunity to attend a Black History Exhibit.
