Coach Sovcll didn't have very much to work with at first, because he had a whole new offensive line. With the talent that was available, the single wing, which is an old formation that is very hard to defend against, was very useful for the North High Polars. Defense improved a great deal throughout the whole season. We could have been undefeated said Coach Sovell with a little luck . The West and Central games had a few errors which lost the games for us. As far as the football side is concerned, nobody outplayed us , was Coach Sovells final statement. Some of the talent Coach Sovell was lucky to get included: Kevin Smith, who made All City All Metropolitan, All State, and he was voted most valuable player by his teammates; Bill Patterson, All City; Jeff Fortin, All City; Gary Lussier, was awarded the Marti Elmquist Award, which is an award for the player with the best citizenship and most involved in community activities. With Scott King and Rory Olson as the seventy seventy-two seventy-three captains, next year's season should be a bright one.
