'PAytlazi SttcicaUoK The physical education department offers general classes to all students to give them overall well being. They also give the student an opportunity to go on and specialize in one particular area such as tennis, golf or modern dance, for his own satisfaction. 17

‘ftywte Students who take home economics courses are preparing themselves for the role of a homemaker. The cooking student learns meal planning, nutrition and the buying of food. Sewing classes work with styles, patterns and materials. Home management is much easier for a student who has completed a home economics course. Many students plan on entering one of the various trades and becoming skilled carpenters, draftsmen, mechanics or metal workers. North has shops and equipment to give the student a good background for a future job.

Polarites looking for information on vocational planning or educational counseling may receive the help they need from the counselors. Joseph Anfinson. Lellwyn Anway, Glen Sonnenberg. and Viola Marti. Helpful books and pamphlets on colleges and careers can be found in their offices. ?tc€fi4ef 7e zc6e%. North's two librarians. Helen Ulvestad and Mclitta Tonn, help students find books that range from pleasure reading to research work. Probably the most-visited person at North is the nurse. Helen Dargay. Miss Dargay is on first-aid duty throughout the day. She arranges for sports physicals and supervises the hearing, eye and tuberculosis tests. Mrs. Mary Ellen Zens, North’s understanding visiting teacher, listens sympathetically to students w ith problems in the home.
