 ittyccaye . . . In our modern civilization it has l)ccome increasingly important to communicate effectively. Growing world tensions make it important for Americans to l e able to sj)eak foreign languages well. English courses enrich the students’ lives by offering experiences in drama and speech.

ftCa t fa t£e faitune . .. The Sixties mean increased enrollment and an expanded building for North High. City planning experts predict an enrollment of over 2400 students by 1963. By 1962 when it is hoped that the new additions will he completed, many new classrooms and science labs, a little theater, two gyms, expanded locker rooms and an entirely new music wing will have been added. Mr. Johnson and Mr. Dillner will continue their present responsibilities to the school and the community and yet must l e ready to guide the school toward a bigger and better North ... a “swinging” NHS.

 0 The talented student has an opportunity to develop his ability through the arts program. North’s outstanding music and art departments provide the student with a sound background in these fields. He also can contribute much of his talent to school activities. A related arts program given to sophomores emphasizes d r a m a, music, and art appreciation.
