All the shop classes are attended only by boys, except architectural drawing classes which seem to attract the girls, too. (Maybe they want to sec their dream house executed.) Auto, machine, metals, and wood shops are the other classes which give the students great familiarity with tools and knowledge of their use in daily life. ARTS AND CRAFTS Keeping in mind that very few students will become professional artists, the art and craft classes place emphasis ujjon the application of color and design to everyday living. The hum of the newly acquired jig saw, the scraping of sandpaper, and the swish of big paint brushes arc familiar sounds heard when art anil crafts students arc expressing their original ideas in many different materials.
