Student Council This year the Student Council has made great advances in student government over previous years. Under the guidance of Miss Madigan, advisor, and Warren Johnson, president, the Student Council has successfully undertaken Student Government Day and student run study halls. 7

In one of his essays, Emerson asks this question: “What is the hardest thing in the world?” He answers: To think. During your school life, it is this the teachers have tried to help you learn to do. They have served you personally to the best of their abilities, and you have profited to a greater or lesser extent. Because of these beginnings, now, as you are about to leave this school, we hope that you will be able to make marked advances in this direction. After all, education is a continuous process. It is mostly through self application and industry that we arc likely to make the most progress. As you explore your way, may life’s journey I - at least as pleasant to you as it has been up to now. $ 2ft■ Principal To the class of 1950: Congratulations to the graduating class of 1950. Through the years which you have spent in school, you have acquired a certain amount of knowledge, and certain skills and attitudes. Education does not terminate upon graduation from high school. It is a continuing process. You will continue to learn from contacts with other people, from the work you will do, and from the literature which you will read. The skills you have acquired will assist you in your work, in meeting new people, and in meeting new situations. The attitudes and habits you have developed will determine your place in relation to your work, your community, and your associates. You arc entering the last half of a century. What will it Ik like to live in the year 2000? Our fast moving atomic age has dwarfed distances to the extent that we must live and work together regardless of race, color, or creed. In order to live in a world of peace, we must break down the prejudices that exist in the world today. In all history no great challenge has confronted the youth of our country. Assistant Principal

Mr. Herbert L. Bruner has proved to be outstanding in the field of education because of his ability as a school administrator. Through new and constructive policies he has sought to raise educational standards throughout the city. For many years, girls have looked to Miss Viola Marti for help in personal and school problems. We have been fortunate indeed, in having such a gracious anil understanding person as our counselor The school office may l e called the heart of North; the successful administration of the entire school depends on its smooth operation.
