ART AND CRAFTS All students who possess a special talent and arc interested in art arc urged to take a course in art, taught by Mildred Head. This year special interest has been given to art appreciation with great interest centered on the Fieri in Masterpieces. Work is done in textile design, still life, portrait painting, and posters on community problems such as cancer, tuberculosis and Red Cross, and school affairs such as tag day and the band concert. Exploring the arts is a new course which teaches basic structure of art, color. painting, advertising, costume, homemaking, architecture, sculpture, crafts, and community planning. Courses in crafts, under the direction of Mrs. Estelle Knudsen, arc open to all students who arc interested in designing and making practical articles. These articles arc made by using wood, clay, metal, fabric and discarded materials of all kinds. Completed projects include such items as make-up kits, stenciled towels, table decorations, etched glass, and clay figurines.
