Ronald Itrasiciir's “Litilcr Gal in Calico, Loi Nord-utrom. The Applied Music classes meet every Thursday with Mr. Harry Ranks to study, compose, and play classical and jxjpular music. Seated at the piano is Marilyn MacKcnzic, while Ann l.ouisc Carlson, Hetty Volkcrt, John Pondelis, ami Mary Walker look on. The Girl Trio Rives out with a song. North’s eighty-five member a cappclla choir, directed by Mrs. Claris Etschcid, is an important contribution to school life. A few of the services rendered by the choir this season have been to provide the music for the Thanksgiving and Easter programs, and Baccalaureate services. They spent a great deal of effort raising money to buy new robes. A festival concert was the feature this spring. With the accompaniment of the band and orchestra, the choir featured one of the greatest American secular compositions, “Ballad for Americans. The music was both secular and sacred, including highlights of musical comedies and light operas. 14

Attractive Polar color guard Joan Glynn, Eugenia Koenig, Manna Harm and Gloria Sanderson proudly carry' their country colors. Bruce Lumley, student conductor, leads the hand in all its outdoor reviews, and assists in directing musical programs in the auditorium. North High School's outstanding conductor of the championship hand and orchestra is J. Clive Cleary. North’s orchestra, under the direction of J. Clive Cleary, entertains the student body during many auditorium programs and provides the necessary music at class plays anti commencements. Both classical and popular music arc played by the orchestra, assuring everyone of the very best in all kinds of music. 13
