Keeping the building in smooth running order is the job of the maintenance force under the direction of Joseph DeMarsh, chief engineer. Supervision of school lunches and the general order of the lunch room is maintained by the lunch room force and Mrs. Claussen, manager. STUDENT COUNCIL Organized along truly democratic lines and affording North High students an opportunity to practice self-government, the student council expresses the ideas of the student l ody in regard to all important school issues. LUNCHROOM HOSTESSES Clean and attractive lunch rooms are maintained through the efforts of the lunch room hosts and hostesses. Service points arc awarded these volunteer workers for their faithful service throughout the year. 10

Mu'iic The blue-uniformed band of North High, under the direction of J. Clive Cleary, is an organization of which the Northside is justifiably proud. Last summer, as in other summers, it won first prize in the Minneapolis Aquatennial Parade. In August the band traveled to Chicago where they gave a solo performance before 100,000 persons at the Annual Music Festival. During the school year the band plays for various auditorium programs and at the football and basketball games. Each spring they present their annual concert featuring Dimitri Mitropoulos, conductor of the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra, as guest conductor. North is the only high school to receive this honor. High-stepping baton twirler Norinc llodgins and Delores Lund display their talents while marching with the band.
