As the beams are directed down, they diffuse themselves through a raindrop forming the colors of the spectrum, based on its three primaries, red, blue, and yellow. During the past three years, our lives have been like the beams of light, anil North has been the raindrop. We, too, have our primaries: classes, activities, and friends. Together, they form a well-rounded life here at North. 4 ■ i L, COnTEflTS ★ ★ ★ ACTIVITIES CLASSES SPORTS SCHOOL LIFE y - A U|ll|||||| To the Graduating ('lasses of 1947: Soon each of you will become a member of the group consisting of many thousands of alumni who have previously travelled the same course as you. We trust that your journey has been most pleasant and that now you realize more than ever before why it has been good for you to have been here. As the years pass, greater joy will come in retrospection of that which has come to you during the period of your high school life. Because of the opportunities you have had, we hope that you will become more and more aware of the necessity of affording all young people similar advantages. As we attain such a goal this land of ours must become a better place in which to live. May real success in noble efforts come to each one of you. Sincerely yours, A. M. Bank WILLARD F.. ( lass Aloof in : All in favor say aye! Opposed? Familiar to the cars of all seniors arc the above mentioned words which have echoed back and forth many times in the school auditorium as the senior class meetings were held. 57 in no Class Art ivil irs Climaxing the three years at North, there was a whirlwind of activities at the end of the senior year. First came the Class Flay, May 1, to start things rolling. Next was the Banquet held at the Radisson Hotel on May 8. Highlighting the festivities was the Senior Prom, May 29, at the Automobile Club. Dancing to the strains of Bud Strawn's Orchestra was from 9-12 F.M. Senior Day was June 6 with the regular talent program, presentation of the Ideal Boy and Girl, and the handing down of the symbols of office from the ‘A’ Senior to the B' Senior officers. The day ended with the traditional party sponsored by the future ‘A’ Senior class. Baccalaureate services were held Sunday, June 8, in our North High Auditorium. The Reverends Hcsla. Mattson, and Kurtz, fathers of three members of the graduating class, were among those participating in the services. Lastly, but most important, diplomas were received on June 12, when, in cap and gown, we marched down the aisle to the stage, and, for the last time as students of North High, sang the Loyalty Song. Edison 14 North 13 . Roosevelt 33 North 0 Marshall 19 North looked forward to a promising football season in I94( under the coaching of Rube Johnson, but hard luck dogged the Polars throughout the year. Before the Central game, the hack field punch, Quido Marianni, was declared ineligible. From there on things went from had to worse with injuries taking their toll. In their first four games, the Polars fought their opponents on even terms in the first half, hut several second half rallies gave the Polars one victory against three setbacks by their opponents. The fifth game against Edison found the Polars outplaying the Tommies, hut bad breaks gave the Northeast boys a 14 to 6 victory. Things were no better in the next two games. Roosevelt and Porky Hjerken spoiled the Polars’ I lomccoming to the tunc of 34 to I 3. In the last game, played in a sea of mud, Marshall broke a nothing to nothing tic at the half to score three times in the second half. The outstanding player of the season was Joe 1 Icndrick-son. Joe specialized in catching passes which seemed nearly impossible to get. In recognition of his abilities Joe was awarded a berth on the Star Journal-Tribune All-City Football team. Captain Wayne Robinson is deserving of special credit for the fine performance he turned in both at center and full-hack, despite the handicap of a bruised hip. (Jerry (Jlcckcl developed into a splendid passer from his full-hack position. His aerials to I lendrickson sparked the Polars’ offense. Rilcv, playing his first year of football, showed great promise, and Bolingcr gave the fans many a thrill as he broke into sweeping end runs. 75 76 9 First row: M. Weisman, Student Managci; D.
