The teachers that make up this department have the duty of trying to instill in each student the need for a physically fit body. Industrial Arts Michael Kvocka R3YIH0l1d SDGHCB Wood Metal Interesting and educational hobbies are acquired by students with the help of Mr. Kvocka, Mr. Spence and Mr. Barnetson. The boys who specialize in wood and metal learn many practical skills that will help them in their future jobs as craftsmen and handy- men. The curriculum of the wood shop con- sists of the use of machines and tools, and the procedures of sanding and finishing the final product, which the boys themselves have built. In the metal shop the boys learn about the use of a lathe, and the techniques of welding and soldering. These classes teach girls to make clothing, prepare foods, and manage homes efficiently, and to live and learn with children. 22

Consumer economics, business English, typing, shorthand, bookkeeping, and office practice are among those courses offered to North High students who are interested in business education.
