North High School--its growing student body, its early failures and successes, its spirit are the symbols of those very processes in their beginning and dynamic stages. This school, unlike Athena, did not emerge dra- matically and full blown, but it is rather the culmination of the infinite effort of and countless hours spent by many dedicated and farsighted men and women North High stands as a monument to their workk But for that monument to have meaning and life it needed this first enthusiastic and appreciative student body whose re sponsibility rests in founding worthy and lasting tradition and precedent Thus the stated purpose of this yearbook is to pay tribute to and record pictorially those active and positive forces that combined to give reason and permanence and being to our school We have tried to omit nothing that has contributed to the growth of North High We chose the name GALAXY not only to be con sistent with the school theme in general but to state metaphorlcally that indeed there has been born a star to pierce the darkness and cast what light it can on a troubled world This first GALAXY as offered with much pride and a full measure of humility And if you derive from it any part of the satisfaction that we derived in preparing it for you our work has been richly rewarded Here s wishing you many pleasant hours of star Y is gazing' A ,iw XXX :XX is e A T S X . .- I .
