Commencemenf Need Commencement ' Be Conventional? Some of the people who attend Commencement come merely to snap a picture of their graduating child receiving a diploma. This year everyone had just such a picture taken by a professional photographer, so some of the people might just as well stayed home. However, our audience at least had the decency to show their apathy in the form of silence rather than annoying disturbances . Once again, the messages in the student addresses were not understood and , in one case, not even pronounced correctly. LEFT: Bert Dech, the Class Valedictorian, speaks on Pedagogical Metamorphic Whims, or, in other words, desirable educational changes.
