A wards Day Early Bird Sfarves It is true that the early bird gets the first worm, but the advantage soon disappears and the bird starves from then on. Thus was the case of the Awards Day. Most of the student body felt like the event was taking place in winter. Actually it was held May 12, which is too early since graduation is the 29th. Sports, academic achievement, scholastic and English awards were present along with the ones shown here. Also given were the Choral, Student Council, Science, Library, Art, Yearbook, and Industrial Art Awards. RIGHT: Bud Bunch is as shocked as the rest of the school when he gets the Spartan Award, which is given on the merits of scholarship, leadership, service , and athletic ability. Oh, well, one out of four is not too bad. BELOW: Mrs. Giller hands Linda Tepen the dictionary that is awarded by the North Greene Education Association to a promising student entering the education profession. BOTTOM RIGHT: Mr. Mucci and Ken Holmes clasp hands as the John Phillip Sousa Award is given. .I pk OPPOSITE BELOW LEFT: Lou Childress and Bert Dech, the DAR and SAR winners, respectively, take advantage of a moment of rest before they are wheeled away.
