YFU Exchange Sfudenfs 16' nk In Finland , children start schooling when they are seven years old . Graduation to secondary school comes when they reach eleven. Because North Greene is smaller than my old high school, the classrooms are much quieter. There is certainly more freedom here than in Finland . This applies to the subjects which you can choose yourself. Organized sports and clubs, which are absent in Finnish schools , also help to make North Greene interesting . Football proved to be the most exciting. Study Hall is also new to me. I liked the idea of not lugging home numerous books every night. I would like to thank everyone at North Greene for the wonderful year I have had. ABOVE: CLeftb Ritva Luisa Hyytianen, Finland, and CRightJ Irma Galeana, Olivar, Mexico. This year at NGHS has been a delightful experience for me , mainly due to the friendly people I have met. Basketball, volleyball, and archery are the activities which make Physical Education my favorite subject. Unfortunately, calisthenics must accompany these. The lunch period brings a time to visit with other students . I also feel that the cafeteria offers good food each day. Mexican school days are different from American. In Mexico, school is attended either from 8:00 a.m. to 2 p.m. or from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Food is not available at the school. The student's subject schedules are designed by the school and no semester courses are offered . Extra-curricular activities, such as sports. music, and clubs, which are taken for granted here , are not present at a Mexican school. All students in Mexico must attend school until they are eighteen. The goals given to them are the same as here: they can either gain knowledge for further study, or develop skills for a job.

The mind, however, cannot hold all things to detail, for over the years the faces and places become vogue. This is when the key is needed - the key to open the room full of mirrors. THE 5PARTAN is that key, for only o picture can catch the true feelings of one and treasure them safely forever. David Amclol 21
