MACK C. WICHT C. E. STEVENSON Professor of Psychology RETIREMENT Retiring from North Georgia College after twenty-three years as Professor of Psychology. WILL D. YOUNG Dean of Students RETIREMENT Retiring from North Georgia College after twenty-six years of being Registrar, Pro- fessor of History, and Dean of Students. THE MAKING OF AN OFFICER The civilians, or High School Harry ' s as cadets call them, come to North Georgia wide-eyed and anx- ious. During the next jour years these boys will become gentle- men, knowledgeable persons and fighting strategist — total these three items up and you have the modern ROTC officer. These civilians have four hard, grueling years ahead with only occa- sional breaks for fun and relaxation. THE BEGINNING AND THE END The picture to the right shows North Georgia ' s finished pro- duct. A young man anxious to receive his gold bar and eager to meet the world head- on. But this isn ' t the end of the man, only the cadet; this finished product will move on- ward to face world problems, to be a world leader, and to prove he is one of America ' s best. THE FRESHMEN ' What do you mean you didn ' t have enough time? No, I ' m not energetic; I ' m too lazy to make two trips. Where do nine out of every ten freshmen spend Saturday afternoon? I wasn ' t asleep, sir. I was just memorizing with my eyes closed. The first fun we ' ve had all year and it will cost 15 and a week per snowball. The freshmen go through drastic changes their first year. Loafing civil- ians become hustling cadets; loud- mouths find their place in this ordered society; sporadic people become time- budgeters. The new system takes a great deal of getting-used-to and the first year is consumed mostly doing that. Rules and regulations control everything but breathing. These frogs spend most of their time in hard work, study, and polishing. This is the price a cadet must pay. SPORTS Sports at North Georgia College are mostly intramural. They range from softball to table tennis to football to tug- of-war. There ' re usually two sports a quarter and at the end of the year there is field day in which each company matches its brain and brawn against other companies. THE SOPHOMORES Some people even study here. These cadets are the real work- horses of the corp. They have both supervisory and work positions. Their greatest enjoyment is hearing the words sir or mister coming from the mouths of freshmen. Bucking for grades or for rank is common place, map reading is a new adventure and goofing off is still the favorite pastime. B_yj III 4 ™ - , rf The thing I like most about this place is leaving it. No, I ' ve never won, but it ' s fun to try. ' ' Why don ' t we just follow the road. A passed out Postel is better than no Postel at all. 13 Who says everybody loves a parade? CADET Cadets are always active and their activities range from girl watching to sleep walking. You name it and a cadet will do it to run off steam. Aside from going to class for education some of the better teachers can compete with TV shows. Sitting in the canteen and shooting the breeze is a great time killer; Dahlonega Gold Rush Days along with mountain climbing are some of the outside interests. Then there is always the military — parades, inspections, drill, and P. T. ' The part we like best about these chapel programs is the end. ' The Casual Corner? I ■■--—.- ■ ' vn You call hawgs better ' n anybody around. My name ' s Wild Bill and Vm . . . ! 14 Psst . . . they ' re laying out the problem now! ACTIVITIES NGC boys find laughter and fun everywhere — Chow Halls, bull ses- sions, snow falls, only to name a few. New uniforms are a part of every cadet ' s life; reading the latest edition of Playboy, or even old ones, can never be delayed; and the best part of any day for most is that long awaited letter in the box. All these things make up a cadet ' s everyday life and must be tolerated or enjoyed. Watch it! I ' m a hemopheliae. Do you think Dr. Roberts meant it, when he said we would all flunk? ' This is the only part of the day I like. How to pass a Playboy exam. Don ' t laugh. Lawrence is inside. ' 15 Pass In Review!!! THE JUNIORS Ah, to be a junior and delegate all my work to someone else. This is the year where the mind takes over the body. Military is no longer a two- day a week affair; everything is in earnest. To this class we must credit the missile on Captain Blan- ton ' s lawn ... a job well done to you men. When you work or play, it is always hard and to win. At, it ' s good to be back. ' And operator . the charges. reverse Briar Patch — this is Father Goose — come in Briar Patch. Now, how the heck did THAT get there. — f ' Bit V f ' Earl, who ' s the man with the camera? So . . . that ' s where my magazine went. 16 THE SENIORS The senior year must be the best for a cadet. Everyone looks up to you — you have prospects of new cars, a bright future, or even marriage. It is also a trying year because the dean has one foot and destiny has the other. Seniors are always at the top of the heap and that is the best place to be no matter what size the heap is. Gold bars are always just around the corner. You ' ve got mono-what? ,TlTfcf The milkman ' s convention will now come to order. A I I Look, my hat bill isn ' t shiny and I ' m an RA officer. A fire drill at 12:30? Get serious, Colonel. Where in the book does it say you have to be on top of everything? Don ' t despair, freshmen, Roddy Lane was only a sophomore PFC. 17 ..ng.c. JOHN T. LAWRENCE 20 L55 ac. JEANNIE S. BALLARD 21 SUPERLATIVES These North Georgia College seniors have been elected to an honor entitled Superlative by their fellow students. And it is indeed an honor to be chosen to represent the outstanding qualities of this class. The adjectives versatile, sincere, athletic, and friendly would be a compliment to anyone, and the possession of these qualities an asset to any graduating senior. But to be chosen the Most Versatile or the Friendliest from the entire class is a sincere tribute to the follow- ing students. 1 v tSt • mjl l PBB  r U undtrwood V| hHMHH Ueriatitih ¥ KAY CATES and SKEET HARD J5it unceritu LAURIE EVANS and JIM CRAVENS 23 rtntetic ELEANOR CALDWELL and REECE CROSS 24 j nevidtleit MARY NELL CARBO AND TOMMY GLISSON 25 f«j«l (Driaade m laaae ; . lliea MARTHA WHITE OUTSTANDING UNDERCLASSMEN SCIENCE The Outstanding Underclassmen were chosen also by their fellow students to represent each class.
