Extra Time Exploit Many students atNo11h Gaston spend their after school hours concentrating on their favorite hobbies, putting forth extra effort and determination at something they enjoy. There are a variety of hobbies enjoyed by our students such as dancing, piano, gymnastics, art, and band. Missy Duncan feels that 'fa 8 good dancer is someone who puts in hard work and a lot of dedication. Enjoyment is a key factor also. Annissa Harris said Piano is a way of expressing myself through my music, Angela Adams also said Art is a way of expressing my feelings through what I draw and how I draw it. tet J . From Funk to Formal There are several dances held during the school year. Two of the most important ones are the Homecoming dance and the prom. Getting pictures back reminded everyone how exciting prom night was. Traveling to Charlotte really made May 3 a night on the townf' People, different colors of styles and tuxedos, and beautiful gowns filled the dance floor at the Radisson Plaza Hotel. Planning the magical night was a hard, but successful accomplishment for the prom steering committee. This was the first year in six years that the prom has been outside of the school. Melissa Smith, Junior class vice- president, worked hard to get her job done. Everyone on the committee pitched in and helped as much as possible. Carla Abemathy really handled the money with great patience. The prom steering committee had a lot of work to do before the prom. First of all, they Sherry Hope and Jesse James seem to be enjoying each other's company at the prom. 22 I Student Life had to make sure there was enough money to people at the Radisson and figure out the have the prom in Charlotte before discussing finances for the room They had to plan the it with and getting approval from Mr refreshments order the napkins order in Costner. The committee had to meet with the vitations set up the pictures figure out ticket The prom steering committee, Amy Maier, Melissa Smith, Leslie Jenkins, Tonya Friday, Jack Ledford, Todd Anderson, Sharon Wright, Sharon Anthony, Karen Anthony, Roslyn Ervin, Carla Abemathy, Joey Watts really made the prom a big success.
