CIVIC MINDED The Wildcat Civic Club is a service club, serving North Gaston and its community. lt is the only all male club at North Gaston, and consists of 45 members. The Civic Club has done many different projects and fund raisers this year, such as the CROP WALK which is the annual I0 mile walk held in Gastonia to help resolve world hunger. They have also sponsered the Christ- mas dance and have provided escorts and drivers for Homecoming ceremonies. The Christmas dance sponsered by the WCC is one of our biggest fund raisers along with sell- ing club shirts at the end of the year, stated Kevin Hanley, club adviser, The Civic Club seems to be the club to be in at North Gaston if you're a guy, accord- ing to club members Tim Hayes and Brett Carter. Jeff Lowery stated The Civic Club has taught me how to work and get along better with other people. Chuck Hill and Eric Hendrix run for first in the annual CROP Walk. Enthusiasm and otivation The FHA-HERO club was full of enthu- siasm. They met once a month to discuss their projects. For Thanksgiving they took fruit baskets to Brian Center and donated food and clothing to needy families they adopted at Christmas. They also attended a leadership meeting at Catawba College in Salisbury. We take pride in the projects we dof' said President, Sharon Wright. Secretary, Roslyn Ervin, stated, It's a nice club, we hope to continue the club's success next year. Tonya Friday said, ' 'The club shows you a lot about the future. Amy Mitchem added, You get to go places and help the people who are in need. Mrs. Davis concluded, The club is trying to encourage leadership and improve the school and community. The F HA-HERO club gave their members a chance to be involved in something FHA-HERO. The Art club also gave their members a chance to enrich themselves, by encouraging them to put extreme effort into their art. In the Art club, We hold very high standards for our members, said Secretary, Kathy Mason. Valarie Wyatt, a member, feels, The members are strongly motivated. They took a trip to Raleigh to tour the Art and History Museum. I think the club is worthwhile, said Mr. Harris. Many of the members participated in art shows.
