Although the Girl's Basketball team did not win a game this season, they played each game with the determination to win. The team's losses were not totally their own fault. When you only have a six person team it is hard to win, stated senior Tonya Friday. Amy Mitchem added, We need more girls to come out next year. The B0y's ,I.V. Basketball team also had a disappointing season. They started out strong, but later fell into a slump. The team has played many close games, but came up short in most of them. I feel my team has played hard in every game and they have im- proved as the year went along, stated Coach Hartley. Overall, the J.V.'s had a 6-I5 record, which placed them sixth in the con- ference. .Winning With t le The Boy's Basketball team has continued with their winning style once again. Coming off of last years 18-6 record, the team had a lot of rebuilding to do considering that all but one of their starters were on second string the previous year. The only returning starter was Tracy Armstrong. ' 'I had a big load to carry at the start of the season, but with help of my teammates we have tumed out a successful yearf, stated Armstrong. The team has had strong performances un- derneath from Eric Newton and Ricky Jackson. This effort combined with Alton Mintz's ability to shoot from the outside or to drive the ball to the basket has made a solid offense. Overall the Boy's Varsity team finished third in the conference with a 9-5 record. They also showed a strong performance by finishing second in the conference touma- ment. The Boy's Varsity Team finished their season with 17 wins and ll losses, and they made it to the quarter finals in the District Tournament. After the season Tracy Armstrong and Eric Newton were named to the All-Gazette Team, Tracy made the All- Conference Team also. TRFORD qi 3 Sill!
