Deadlines! The Newspaper Staff has published five editions of the Lair this year. They have many tasks and obligations to meet before their deadlines. They think of stories to write. Then, they go and interview people and find information out about the stories. After that, they write, proofread, and rewrite. It takes a long time to finally have a story that appeals to their readers, and to give the news and facts that are interesting. They had a small staff which resulted in everyone working a little harder. Tammy Huggins expressed, Most people don't know the work and headaches that we go through but when we get compliments like we have this year, it's worth it. When all the stories are finished, they are taken to be typeset. They get them back in long strips, cut them apart, and plan layouts. Then, the final copies are sent to the printers and finally, the papers are completed. Julie Bumgardner feels, '5Working on the paper has taught me a lot of responsibilities. There's so many different things I've learned because of working on the stafff' Also, Sherry is Deadlines! Williams says, ' 'I love working on the newspaper, there's a lot of work compared to the junior high paperf' Throughout the year the Yearbook staff has many jobs. They must sell ads to local businesses and books to students to pay for the publishing cost and the photography supplies. Students wrote and typed copy for activities, special stories, and clubs covered in the yearbook. They alsos cropped pictures, drew layouts, and measured copy and headlines. Boyd Beasley stated, 5'Yearbook is a lot of hard work, it's like being on a job and not getting paid for it. ' ' They do their best in making the yearbook a great success for the students. Andrea Messer expressed, Working on the Yearbook was an ex- perience that will stick with me forever, I've leamed a lot about working together and it's taught me to deal with responsibility. ' ' Work- ing on the staff and meeting deadlines was a lot of hard work, cooperation, and responsi- bility. All their hard work pays off in the end when the yearbook is finally finished. :iii '...
