Administration A few major but positive changes in our administration have helped to keep NG running smoothly. Mr. Costner stated, I feel the transitions for the new staff members have been very smooth. Mr. Carpenter, one of our new assistant principals who transferred from Pinewood Elementary, stated, The transi- tion for me hasn't been rough, but the hours have been. Mr. Carpenter had to adjust from attending only four PTO meetings a year to attending all home football and basketball games along with dances. Mr. Doug Berckman, also a new assistant principal who trans- ferred from Southwest Jr. High, replied, Here students can have cars, are allowed to smoke, and are presented with more freedom than junior high students. I'm 6 ,.f- Makes Changes still leaming. lt's awkward that I know only a handful of students, but so far I'm very impressed. In the guidance area, we gained Mr. Brock Smith from Holbrook Jr. High for academic guidance counseling. Mr. Smith was a faculty member at NG nine years ago. Everyone's real nice and l've been made to feel welcome here, he commented. This school is friendly, hospi- table, and down to earth. Mrs. Jane Taylor our previous academic counselor was trans- ferred to vocational counseling where she is looking forward to association with business and in- dustry. I applied because of ex- peiience and close work with Mr. Trudnak, she stated, so transi- tion was natural.
