We stand before the opportunities a new day brings - the hope of attaining peace, the dreams of a better tomor- row, and the aspirations of expanding our horizons. To shield ourselves from life's realities will not enable us to realize our hopes, fulfill our dreams, and achieve our aspirations, for it is only by coping with the problems of this day that solutions for tomorrow may be found. There have always been those people who have excelled in their field of occupation. Teachers have been no exception. It takes a special talent to excel in the field of teaching. Determination, sincerity, and above all, an unyielding devotion to students are the characteristics which have long placed the great teachers in a class all their own. Therefore, we feel a teacher of such caliber deserves to be recog- nized. He has shown a deep desire to communicate with and extract the best from his students. By his devotion and love, he has inspired many students to aspire to achieve higher goals. Because of the recog- nition he has given to the students as worthy human beings, the 1974 MARAUDER is dedicated to Mr. Phillip Gilbreath.
