Stresses Current Events As the world faces crisis after crisis in Cuba and Berlin, the Social Studies Department of North Fulton strives to emphasize the more important aspects of past history related to current events. By studying a country and learning its specific problems, each student can contribute to world peace. From the eighth to the twelfth grades, stu- dents are offered varied courses — ranging from Georgia HHistory to economics and gov- ernment. Today more than ever before history is in the making. The United States and Russian race for space has brought new interest for students taking social studies. Students have eagerly watched as the last seconds tick off until one of our astronauts streaks into the bright early morning sky on a history making record breaking flight. Algebra Math Promotes Logic and Sound Miss Elizabeth Senter Randolph-Macon, B.A. Emory Univ., M.A. Chairman oj Math North Fulton ' s Math Department stands firmly in the belief that science and business of today demand a stronger background in math than ever before. To meet this demand, programs in the accelerated classes have been stepped up one year. Therefore, students in these classes will be able to finish a full high school course in four years leaving one year for review or for further outside the normal high school curriculum. Also good students, not in the accelerated classes, have an opportunity to take five years of fully comprehensive math. This course has been improved to include some of the ad- vanced work consisting of arithmetic, two years of algebra, and one year each of geo- metry and trigonometry. Mrs. C.aslleberry helps interested stu- dents ivith challenging math problems. 30
