English In Composition Developing students ' competence in read- ing, writing and speaking the English language is the goal of the English Department at North Fulton. In the eighth grade emphasis is placed particularly on composition and grammar. During the next four years, English poetry and literature are added to the curriculum. Although unknown to some students, jour- nalism and dramatics are also a great part of our English Department. Accelerated classes are offered to students who have shown special achievement and creativeness in English. These classes, which allow the student to broaden the scope of his English accomplishments, offer extra prepara- tion for college.
