The concepts taught in English are used later in other classes and long after grad- uation. The sophomores experiment with grammar and sentence structure, the juniors read and study such novels as The Scarlet Letter and the seniors study English literature and Shakespearean Drama. The English Department is offering a new course this year. The course, Humanities Seminar, is taught by the team teaching method and is open to seniors. Department Head is Miss Jacobson. In these classes the students study not only the language but the history and culture of the country and the people who use it. - With the use of the language lab students can improve their speaking ability during class and after school. Each language course sponsors a club. They are very active groups and add a great deal to the student's knowledge of the language they are Studying. Department Head is Mr. Adcock.
