Mr. And Miss NDHS 1987-88 Sammy Garza and Dena Ken- nedy were selected by the facul- ty as the 1987-88 Mr. and Miss North DeSoto High School. This honor represents leader- ship, academic responsibility, as well as personality. Sammy is the president of the North DeSoto Band. He says he really tries to set an example for other students and feels he now has more students looking up to him than ever. The yearbook staff asked Sammy why he feels he was chosen for such a special honor and he said, I feel the teachers really like and respect me. When asked what his first reac- tion was to the news of this hon- or, he replied, I just could not believe I was picked for some- thing so special. Sammy is really glad Dena was chosen as Miss North De- Soto I-Iigh School. I-Ie feels she deserves this honor. Dena is a member of the choir, FBLA, and the Reader's and Writer's clubs. f it I In response to what her first reaction was, Dena replied, When Mrs. Oswalt told me, I turned red and started to cry.
