1 S . ,2- n 6 This year's edition of North DeSo- to's Griffin is being dedicated to Mrs. Annie LeGrande and Mr. Huey Bryant, Jr. for a grand total of sixty-one years of dedication to education. Huey Bryant, Jr. The North DeSoto High Yearbook Staff dedicates this yearbook to Mr. Huey Bryant, Jr., in remembrance of all the time, effort and happiness he has put into our school in the past five years. Mr. Bryant, the son of Huey Bryant, Sr. and Arquallar Bryant, attended school at Ingersoll High School in 1952. Less than a year after graduating from high school he was drafted into the army where he served four years. Mr. Bryant graduated from Southern University in Baton Rouge, La. in 1962, attaining his B.S. degree in Mathematics and Science. In 1976 he received a Masters Degree from Northwestern State University in Administration and Su- pervision. On February 9th, 1957 Mr. Bryant married Will Amanda Scott. A daughter, Yardis Danette, joined the Bryant household in April 1958. Mr. Bryant taught mathematics at Logansport Rosenwald High School in 1962-1971. Later during the years of 1971-1982, he was principal of Logansport Rosenwald High School. In 1982 he became principal of North DeSoto High School. Mr. Bryant has served on the Board of the lst National Bank of Logansport, La. He is also on the Board of the Community Health Center. 1987 became a year of beginnings and endings for the Bryants, marked by the birth of their first grandchild in March, and Mr. Bryants retirement in May. Mr. Bryant has been heard to proclaim, When I retire, I don't want to be around any dogs, children, or old people.

Eywfiidmv fit M L VJ' LVV VVV , , ....,.,,, , 1' Q I . ANNIE ELIZABETH LEG RAN DE Annie Elizabeth Beard was born October 30, 1918 in Pleasant Hill, La., as the daughter ol'Julius H. Beard Sr. and Pearl Smith Beard of Verda, La. She also had two brothers: Julius Hunt, Jr. Cdeceasedj and William Grady Beard. Annie Elizabeth Beard began her education at Summer Grover Elementary, transferring during the seventh grade to Barrett School. Later, she and her family moved to Stonewall where she graduated. Afterward, she attended Northwestern State University and graduated with a B.S. in education. She continued her education and received a masters degree from Stephen F. Austin. Miss Beard taught home economics at Pelican High School, but returned almost a year later to Winn Parish. There she worked as a home demonstration agent. Later, Miss Beard moved to New Orleans to work as as therapeutic dietition at Southern Baptist hospital. There Miss Beard and Clay C. LeGrande met, married in 1944, and had three children: Margret Anne Dickerson, presently teaching kindergarten at Stonewall Elementry, Clay C. LeGrande Jr., now working for a company that trains employees for the city of New Orleans, and William Hunt, a professor at University of Wisconsin also has a doctorate in lchthyology. Mrs. LeGrande has eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. In 1949, the LeGrandes moved to Stonewall and Mrs. LeGrande began teaching home economics at Longstreet in 1952. From 1961-1982, Mrs. LeGrande's responsibilities at Stonewall High School included teaching home economics, 7th and 8th grade language arts, Sr. English, Freshman English, Civics, Jr. High Science, Biology and serving the student body as counselor, Assistant Principal, and Principal. For the past live years Mrs. LeGrande served at North DeSoto High School as our guidance counselor and an Adult Education teacher. From house to house, door to door in the Stonewall community, top floor to basement, front gate to the Ag. building, every student and parent knew Mrs. LeGrande. Mrs. LeGrande will be missed by the teachers and students here at N.D.H.S. We give our thanks for all she has done. Will we dare to dream that another will fill her shoes with the drive, determination, and above all the love Mrs. LeGrande has for education?
