North Dallas celebrated American Education Week in 1951 with an open house and a program symbolizing school studies. The program consisted of students impersonating famous people from past centuries, a style show by the clothing department, drills by members of the Military Department, folk dances by students from physical education classes, and several selections by the band and the A Cappella Chorus. Refreshments were served after the program in the school cafeteria. The team won four games and dropped six to complete the most successful season in three years. In city play North Dallas defeated Forest and Tech. Ernie Manicchia was voted the most valuable player by the squad. The captains for the squad were Billy Hobbs and Don Matthews. Prospects for the 1952 season are bright with fifteen returning lettermen. Lacking in height and speed, and two lettermen moving out of town, the North Dallas basketball team was able to win only one game in city play. Only two players graduated this year, and a better season is in sight next year. As the Viking goes to press the Bulldog baseball team is on top with three wins in city competition. Due to good pitching and good batting the squad disposed of Sunset, 15-39 Woodrow, 4-Og and Tech 11-1. In the city track meet on April 9 the track team placed second. It was able to hold the same position in the regional meet. From the regional meet four squadmen qualified for the state meet held in Austin. This year's golf team, one of the best in North Dallas' history, has worked hard and the results were very good. Prospects for next season are promising with all the present members of the team returning. ' The tennis team paced by Joyce Stewart and Al Cortez, co-captains, finished in fourth place in city play. The boys' and girls' singles advanced to the finals in district play before they were eliminated.
