Library lobby with student lounge in the background .... Construction of the library, one of the most modern libraries in the U. S., commenced in the spring of 1949 . . .The two storied structure with its unique modular heating and ventilation system was designed so that two more stories might be added at some future time . . . The structure itself cost S400,000 with i p100,000 going for equipment . . . Two student reading rooms seat SOO students at any one time while a large lounge gives the students a chance to relax . . . Lighting in the building is louverall which gives a soft light with a minimum of shadow . . .
