Actual operation of the North Dakota State School of Science had begun in 1903. The college has. from its inception. been organized as a two-year institution. It is the second oldest continuously operating public junior college in the United States. The institution was one of the first to enter the vocational education field when the Trades and Technical Divisions were organized in 1922. and since that time the college has played a leading role in promoting vocational and technical education. NDSSS is comprised of five different instructional divisions of Technical. Business. Trades. Arts and Science, and Continuing Education. NDSSS is open to any man or woman student, not only from North Dakota, but from throughout the United States and the World, who can benefit from the more than 69 various curriculums. This junior college is located in Wahpeton. a city with a population of over 9,000. It is in the southeastern corner of North Dakota at the head of the Red River. During the academic year, students are interviewed for jobs by employers throughout the country through the college job placement office with no cost to the student. Parents’ Day Draws About 1,000 The Thirteenth Annual NDSSS Parents’ Day was held on Friday. March 30. Parents' Day officials were pleased with the turnout of parents and relatives. Special activities included campus tours, open house of residence halls and laboratories, welcome programs and shop and equipment demonstrations. There was also three identical programs which were highlighted by the NDSSS Stage Band and the Wildcat Singers. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Nault of Havre. Montana received the Wahpeton Chamber of Commerce farthest distance silver tray award. They traveled 750 miles to visit their son. Parents' Day 3
