Women's Track The NOSSS Women's Track team successfully defended its Region Xlll title by defeating Golden Valley Lutheran College 190-138. Region champions included Julie Johnston-Long Jump. Chris Benzie-Shot Put and Discus. Renee Gripentrog-Javefcn, Brenda Olsen-200 and 400 meter dash, and the 400 meter relay team consisting of Sue Sturdevant. Brenda Olsen. Jackie Abers, and Val Miller. Brenda Olsen was named Region XIH Female Athlete for her meet record performances in the 200. 400. 400 meter relay, and second place finishes in the 100 meter dash and 1600 meter relay. At the NJCAA National meet in SanAngelo. TX May 19,21 Chris Benzie placed third in both the shot put and discus throw. She was awarded All-American status for her individual efforts. The 400 meter relay placed 5th in 48.68. (FAT) NDSSS established college records in the 100, 200,400. 400 meter relay and the heptathlon-Lisa Cook, this season. AWARDS: Most Im-proved-Lori Kilber, Hardest Worker-Chris Benzie and Val Miller. Most Valuable-Brenda Olsen. Co-Captains - Chris Benzie and Val Mi'ler.
