Brenda Pierce, and Nadine Calloway. THE THRILL OF VICTORY! — As the wave of red moved back and forth across the infield of the track cheering, the NDSSS Mile Relay Team was not to be denied. In a record setting time of 4:01.68 they won the final event of the two day Region XIII meet bringing home a one point CHAMPIONSHIP! Individual Region XIII Champions included: Karen Spandl-Milc Relay; Val Miller-100M. 200M. Mile Relay; Lynotte Mauch 800M. Mile Relay; Lisa Beck-Long Jump. 400M. Mile Relay; Kris Benzie-Shot Pul. Advancing to the national championships In San Angelo. TX were Glor-ianne Whitmore Javelin. Melissa Carpenter-High Jump. Kris Benzie-Shot Put. Discus. Javelin, and Lisa Beck-Long Jump. 200M. 400M. and High Jump. Melissa placed Sth in the high jump with Lisa Beck winning the event jumping S'6 . Both earned All American honors. Lisa became the first NDSSS athlete to wm both the National indoor and outdoor championship. During the outdoor season NDSSS was unbeaten in North Dakota competition against the two universities, and all the four year and junior colleges.
