There are 3047 of us ihis year more than ever before. 2170 of us trekked down here for registration on September 1st. to become a slate-wide, record breaking freshman class, and the rest of us wandered in between then and classes on the 7th. With the registration hassle behind us. and our money too. we plunged into classes. The familiar drag (all too familiar because we came expecting a new world and ended up in the old high school environment) started. For most of us the time went so fast that we didn’t know what hit when the fall midterms rolled around. But even long before that, we were comfortably at home. Not a one of us felt like a freshman . . . or a senior: here in a two year college we’re all more like sophomores and juniors. Homecoming was the first “big thing if you can call it that. For the first time since school started we all stuck around for a weekend and made it to the one Cal game that most of us would see. After that things really settled down to dull. The few of us who lived too far away to make it home on weekends soon found new stomping grounds at White Rock and New Effington. The rest of us lived out of suitcases the entire year ... to school, home, to school, home, school, home . Sticking around wouldn't have accomplished much. Somehow we made it through the long dead winter and the slow, slow spring, and then there were spring quarter finals and graduation just one more thing in the way of going home for most of us and we were out!
