Foreword Any yearbook is a chronological record of the works of man—human beings who have contributed in some way to the society in which they have been placed. We have attempted to record the activities of all the individuals who have been in attendance at our school during the past year. Every member is important, from the newest, shyest freshman to such men as Coach Bute and President Haverty. We hope that, as you page onward through this book, you will find some item that will give you lasting satisfaction with the knowledge that the mark you have left here has been recorded for posterity.

Coach of the year Earl (Skip) Bute, veteran coach at the State School of Science, was named small college Coach of the Year by the Football Writers Association of America. He was honored by the writers group meeting in Chicago in conjunction with the college All-Star football game on August 6. Bute has been on the Science School staff 41 years. In 1962 he was named Coach of the Year by North Dakota sports writers and sportscasters. Over 40 years Bute-coached teams have compiled 137 victories against 90 defeats and 17 ties.
