May 20, 1970 North Cove, North Carolina Dear Margaret, I have just returned from a tour of the European countries v here my hus- band is now serving in the Navy. David Cox is also in the Navy aboard the same ship as my husband. David has recently been promoted; he is now chip- ping paint instead of mopping floors. While on my tour I came in contact with many of our classmates. Some of them have surely done well for them- selves. Jo Anne Johnson is now operating a coffee shop in Paris; she decided in this after a year at North Cove making the teachers ' coffee and selling ice cream. Jimmy Huskins is now a private detective at Scotland Yard; surely hope he catches all the criminals. Also in Europe are Richard Williams and Wayne Ollis, From all his experiences keeping his Austin running, Richard has been made chief mechanic by this English company. Wayne is there as the designer of a new racing model. Back in the States Jean Cline is coaching the American Girls ' Basketball team for the World Championship, When one of the team was injured, she was treated by, Joyce Hogan, now a nurse in one of the New York hospitals. Billy Washburn is also in New York editing LIFE magazine. He had the ex- perience of having edited the CONASOGA in 1960. Two of our boys have gone into business lately; Douglas Taylor is the new owner of Lonon ' s store and Jimmy Stockton is a part owner in the Thread City Service Station. The remainder of our class are still in McDowell County. Danny Washburn is teaching Driver ' s Education here; he can now distinguish between the door and window handles. Dicky McKinney is in the county as the Schlitz distribu- tor. Larry Williams and Mary Rose Byrd are married and live at Woodlawn. Shelby Jean Robertson is married to the man she has chased all her life and has three little blond haired boys. Junior Biddix is chief manager of the Fish Hatch- ery. Margaret, I hope the new addition to your family is a boy, so that you can name it Roy, Jr. If you hear any further news from our group, write and let me know. The 1960 seniors are difficult to keep in touch with. Your classmate, Hilda Kaye
