We, the Seniors, do hereby leave to the sophomores the joy of giving a ban- quet to honor the seniors next year. We, the Seniors, do hereby leave to the freshmen a ray of hope that they too, may one day be Seniors. And to our teachers, we do hereby leave peace everlasting. Seriously, we wish to express our gratitude to you for your understanding and patience. Senior Glass On a sunny September morning in 1942 a bunch of shiny faced, scared to death kids marched in, and after some persuasion began to give their names. Seven wee voices whispered: Junioi Ayers, Janet Elliott, Nora Bee Harris, Shirley Harris, Joanne Harrison, Pansy Hollifield, and Catherine Robertson. How those voices have grown! Those kids are the Seniors of 1955. There were more of course, but they have, by chance and misfortune , forsaken us. Painfully we learned our ABC ' s and entered the high first. Here Joe Swafford and Rod Brown joined us. In the second, third, and fourth grades we were joined by Alice Faye Williams, Joyce Ann Hollifield, Mary Lou Carpenter, Gordon Hensley, Mildred H us kins, and Peggy Anne Lonon. On through the fifth and sixth grades, where Jean Letellier joined our ranks. Slowly but surely we made our way through the seventh and eighth grades and finally that big day — High School. Mr. Wilson took us as his home room and guided us through the green year. We elected Gordon Hensley as our class president. As sophomores, we again hid behind Mr. Wilson. This year we had a newcomer, Shirley Ross. We elected Rod Brown as our president for this year. As Juniors we found ourselves in the hands of Mrs. Glovier. We added two new members to our class, Bob Hollifield and John Winters. The main high- lights this year were our Junior-Senior Banquet and ordering our class rings. Yes, we finally made it to the twelfth grade when again Mrs. Glovier is our home room teacher. We added two new members this year, Gene Leonard and Roy Stewart. We elected Rod as class president. We, as Seniors are eager for, but a little afraid of the day we graduate, when we bid each other good-bye and the last page of our high school history is written. jHj ' sioro
