Glancing down through the dark corridors of time, I see before me many strange and wondrous events But the most noteworthy of these events occurred one beautiful September morning in 1936 when the class walked up the gangplank of the good ship ”1941”, for a voyage on the sea of Learning, More than twenty- five passengers gathered at North Cove High School to begin this voyage. As a whole we were very inex¬ perienced sailors, but under the capable leadership of Captain Tames Lonon, and the special care of our beloved teacher, Mr, Tyler, the first part of cruise was completed with success. our On the second lap of our journey we were known as Sophomores, For this part of the cruise we chose one of our most efficient seamen, Bill Brown,to guide us. By now the sailors had gained confidence and experi¬ ence and were beginning to accomplish many Many of us were well known in the ports letics, Scholarship, and Achievement, things, of Ath- Then the ship turned into the third part of the journey, and the passengers became known as Juniors, For this expedition Gladys Lonon was selected to pilot us. We began to put away our childish ways and look to greater horizons. The highlight of our social activities was the Junior-Senior Banquet at which we wore hosts. We visited many ports, always adding to our store of knowledge. At last we come to the last part of our .cruise. For this greatest voyage we chose an experienced and trustworthy leader, Morion Good, Each person on board rejoiced as he saw ahead of him a port he had been endeavoring to reach for four years; that of Wisdom, But before we leave the good old ship of ”1941” we are planning to present our Senior play False Fronts”, which promises to bo the greatest dramatic success in the history of the school. During those four years we have encountered many storms, but we have learned the true meaning of co- poration and friendship. Wo are now in sight of our long sought goal, and wc feel that we will be able to anchor the weather-beaten, but sturdy ship safely in¬ to port. Historian-Harrison Williams,
