It is a passage that has been used many times over in songs, films, and many other endeavors, but as one of the rare, immortal pieces of literature, never becomes trite; it is always meaningful. It has been said, There is a time to be born and a time to die . .. ; but there is an interval between these two times, of infinite importance. N.C.H. is only a small part of this interval, but a part we want to remember always. If we can bring to life the memories that make a school year complete, then the 1968 ILIUM may take it's proper place in this vital interval. We Dedicate: This year our yearbook is dedicated to an organization our school greatly appreciates. Its members work hard on projects to raise money so that we, the students, may benefit. They give usextralibrarybooks, gym and athletic equipment, music and art supplies, scholar- ship funds, public address systems, foreign exchange student funds, money for landscaping. band uniforms. an outdoor sign, and the lighting for it. Although they didm buy all these things themselves, they made donations to the organizations and made the purchases posgible. Without our Parent-Teacher Association, these things would not have been ours to enjoy. - The North College Hill Ir.-Sr. P.T.A. was formed in 1953. Monetary contributions given to our Jr.-Sr. HighSchool from 1953 through 196'? total $3,363.78. A 377146 for 8dumtim Yes, there is a time for education, The time is now and the North College Hill Board of Education is doing every- thing to see that it is a good education. Under the leadership of Dr. Ross, Superintendent and Dr. Whitehouse. Presidentof the Board of Education, much has been accomplished during the year. Distributive Education is our newest course offered at the High School, With this and further expansion of the programs at North College Hill the Board of Education is constantly up-dating our prepara- tion for the future. Dea: Students: This yearbook represents a special type of publication--one whose contents can be reviewed a thousand times and still not become boring to its reader. In the future, as you reflect back on school days, you will find that your copy of this Ilium is a most valuable possession. It will serve to provide a ready reference when memory fails to recall 01d faces and the many pleasant experiences associated with school days. In saying farewell to 1967-68, Iwam to congratulate those. who worked so hard in preparing this treasury album. I am sure that your generosity and unselfishness will be amply rewarded through the many hours of pleasure and relaxation which its contents will provide. Sincerely, Joseph N. Ross Superintendent of Schools FROD SLIPGI i g t s The Ilium serves as a focal point of each school year, bringing to- gether in pictures the faculty, students, clubs, and activities. As a result it serves as a permanent record of the 1967-68 school year. It has been a good year for N.C.H., with many accomplishments. honors, and awards gained by the students. I have been very pleased with the progress made this year and with my association with the f aculty and students. My best wishes go with the graduation class of 1968, and I hope that in years to come they can look through these pages with many fond memories of N.C.H. High School. Respectfully, Edward W. Shreve Assistant Superintendent I sincerely hope the Seniors' last four years have been fruitful ones; that they will stand you in good stead as you embark upon your lifels am- bitions or goals. After you have graduated and departed from the corridors of your alma mater, remember you are welcome to return. To our undergraduates who will be back next year. Isincerely hope the improvements we have planned will meet your approval and will benefit the entire student body. There is a time in every student's education when he arrives at the con- viction that envy is ignorance; that imitatiouissuicide. My advice to any student is to be yourself. Leam to make decisions yourself: have faith and confidence in what you are attempting to do. The great student is one who, in the midst of the crowd, stands firmly for his convictions. Remember, nothing is at last sacred by the integrity of your own mind. Sincerely, Paul L. Webster Dear Students: Congratulations to the graduates of 1968. You have personally participated in this year's educational in- novations at North College Hill School. Changes, at times, are necessary. I hope you will continue to pur- sue new knowledge and improvise when needed, in the future. Education is not found only in a text, but mainly through contact with other fellow beings. Let's not for- get respect, obedience, and friendship. Respectfully yours, Patrick N. Levine 6oumclors at Work MISS KAY GIERINGER The. guidance counselors are the baCk-bone 0f the school's curriculum. Dallas, Texas School Consultant - Mr. Terry Hertzinger 2l5 m 2H? Editor? Note As a Senior, I knew I had to make this year my best ever. It started last May when I was chosen to be the Editor of the 1968 ILIUM. Many people do not realize the time and work put into our yearbook. Sometime when you have nothing better to do, pass by 10'? any night after school and watch the staff and Mrs. Jacobs work. I would like to say a special thank you to Mrs. Jacobs for all the help and confidence she has given me. Without her, I know I never could have finished this yearbook. It has been an experience I will remember for a long time. Ifiually realized what responsibility meant. I know the class of 1968 will miss NCH and everyone con- nected with it. I know I will. It's only June, and already I miss the familiar halls and the quick HIS in the halls. I hope you will all wish our class the best of luck because right now we feel a little lonesome and alonein the world. This feel- ing will and once we find our way, and Iknow all of us will someday. Thank you all for making my years at NCH very happy and fulfilling. The staff and I hope you will enjoy your 1968 ILIUM now and in years to come.
