24 Mr. Dale Banks J- Mrs. Elizabeth Cooper Mr. Evan Todd English 0W AM at QdkEypmsm A knowledge of one's language is most essential for a thorough education. From the earliest grades we are taught to speak and write in English. The foundations of grammar and spelling enable us to construct sentences. As progress continues. sentences become paragraphs, and paragraphs become compositions. With more acquired knowledge of the language, including an increasing vocabulary, we are able to write intelligent and accurate papers with good examples and supporting details. To be able to think and then to express oneself and understand others is the primary purpose of seeking a thorough understanding of the English language .

Matlu 0W Qhesses Aprfoatiow Mathematics is a very important study in itself. and it is also of the utmost im- portance to most forms of science. Math is much more than addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. It is as complex as the tasks it is called on to solve. However, like many things, the true importance of math lies in the indi- vidual's ability to apply it to the problems and situations met in actual life. This year, a member of our Math De- partment, Mrs. Lakonen, retired after thirteen years at NCH. All of us regret her leaving and wish her the best of luck in the future.
