Tommy Hewitt Senior - Split End The Season FOURTH PERIOD DRIVE TIES FOREST PARK 7-7 With time running out and seven points behind, the Eaglesmarched 80 yards to pull a tie from the clutches of the Panthers. The Eagles, after being stopped on the ground, took to the air with Sophomore quarter- back Billy Orr hitting receivers Tommy Hewitt and Tommy Gruber. The scoring play came on a seven yard pass from Orr to Hewitt. This first game showed ability and desire to come back that lasted throughout the year. Eagle defense No. 2 in the Region. pm. EAGLES DEFEAT JONESBORO IN FINAL SECONDS 7-0 Once again a never say die attitude proved to be the difference in a close contest. After four quarters of see-saw battle, the Eagles mustered full strength and drove from their own territory to inside the Cardinal five yard line. With 19 seconds left on the clock, Dale Buice blasted across for the lone score of the game. This game held special significance for the Eagles as it was their first home victory in two years. Two disputed calls marred the Eagles' hopes for victory, the first of which came on a fourth and goal attempt by Rams in the second quarter. EAGLES OUTLAST TROUP 13 7 After a heartbreaking defeat, the Eagles next traveled to LaGrange to cap their second win of the young season. All the scoring of the game came during the first half, with Tommy Hewitt scoring once and setting up the sec- ond Eagle touchdown with an unbelievable catch. The Tigers' only score came on a fake punt in the second quarter. The second half was a defensive struggle with neither team coming within scoring distance.
