Tom Norris eCBig T99 People grow and mature in many ways. Last year everyone who attended NC, particularly those who lived in the Menis Dorm, were deeply moved by the death of Tom Norris. Big T, as Tom was affectionately known, died suddenly of a heart attack on October 7, 1982. We know, as Tom did, that the moment his heart ceased to beat, his soul and spirit were alive in the presence of Jesus, whom Tom loved and served. itHaving worked with Tom Norris for a little over a year, I was always impressed with his faithfulness, sincerity and servants heart. Tom was a quiet individual and yet his presence was always sensed. tiI never found a chore that he was not willing to perform. We will greatly miss Tom Norris and the contribution he made both to the college and the Athletic Department. We have the confidence that God has called him home. cannot be placed in any order. Brother Hall is a man of exacting standards. Students are challenged by this Britisheris example to apply God,s teaching in every individual aspect of their life. He advises students to seek Godis will in every situation. His students know his philosophy of life: Be the man or woman God wants you to be! When considering the growth of ministries at NC, the Evangelism Outreach Team is recognized as the newest sign of growth. Brother Hall began the Team this year in order to train men and women who are specifically called to a full-time evangelistic ministry. He has admitted that the creation of the Team has been his greatest joy at NC since his arrival in 1978 from Great Britain. This Evangelism Team models the NC concept of Total Environment for Active Ministry. Students who have as- sisted in these evangelistic crusades received invaluable training. Brother Hallis passion for evangelism is manifested in these promising preachers. He began as an evangelist in 1960 while still a student at British Isles Nazarene College. Three years later he began taking other students into his crusades. This on-the-spot education now offered at NC is something of immense value. Leading the Team has caused this brother to cut back on his own ministry. He is currently holding his own crusades and seminars throughout the adjoining states. However, he has changed some local bookings from his own ministry to that of the Evangelism Team in order that his students may gain experience. His attitude toward bookings for himself is one of trust: I do not believe in advertising or asking pastors for meetings. The Lord Will arrange for our meetings. C O O k This past year Brother Hall twice appeared on Channel 38 TV. in Chicago. Although not seen in this area, reports of his gifted ministry have thrilled all at NC. After his presentations on the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, the phone lines at the station were overwhelmed by callers testifying to having just received the Baptism. Working and studying with a man who is mightily used of God is a privilege. It is an honor to dedicate the 1983 Archive to a Christian like Reverend Ian Hall. Teacher Evangelist Dedication 17
