John 10:10, ccI am come that they might. have LIF E and that more abundant- ly . . . f, has found expression in the lives of the students of NORTH CENTRAL BIBLE COLLEGE during this memora- ble year and is portrayed in the pages of the 1963 ARCHIVE. These lives, possessing varied degrees of experience, have entered our halls and have become integrated into the many facets of college life e intellectual, spir- itualJ musical, physical, and social. These same lives, molded through the instruc- tion of able and Spirit-anointed instruc- tors, will leave our college for the helds of their calling to minister the Word that '5 ! others might receive the crown of LIFE. The last sound of the 7:25 a.m. bell marks the start of a typical day of classes for North Centralas faculty and student body. Intellectual LIFE has begun. 55$ , Truths discovered in the classrooms of North Central find expression in the LIF E of each student in various ways. Whether it be teach- ing a Sunday School class, traveling with 21 Gospel Team, or meditating in private devo- tions, each student finds his place in the pat- tern of everyday spiritual and musical activi- ty. His experience is broadened; his life is deepened. The 9:30 p.m. confect bell, that shrill blast of the refereets whistle, the rhythmic sound of the ping pong ball, that excited tTd love to goV these and many other fa- miliar sounds indicate the presence of that necessary ingredient in the activities of each student a social and physical LIFE. qumwzom EC mhmmq INTELLECTUAL LIFE . . . 12 SPIRITUAL LIFE . . . 76 MUSICAL LIFE . . . 108 S OCIAL LIFE . . . 122 PHYSICAL LIFE . . . 136 From a successful nine year pastorate t0 the esteemed oHice of District Superintendent, our President pro'- gressed unwaveringly. After giving of himself unspar- ingly to the Minnesota District, he was called to serve as President of North Central Bible College. It is because of his unique abilities in meeting each responsibility graciously that the College has ad- vanced rapidly under his guidance. Regionalization and steps toward full accreditation are just two of the great achievements reached since he was inaugu- rated in hiay of 1961. His pleasing personality and his winning smile are constantly attracting new friends to our College. We realize that all of his accomplishments have been achieved only because of his utmost dedication to God. We know that his devotion, his love, his wis- dom, and his great foresight can be attributed to his complete consecration to the Master. To you, Reverend G. Raymond Carlson, we, the graduating class dedicate the 1963 ARCHIVE. Our librarian has faithfully served North Central Bible College in various capacities for the past twenty- one years. She has served as matron in the past and presently teaches dactylology. It is largely due to her hard work and devotion that our library is what it is today, one of the finest in any of our Assemblies of God schools. We graduates have come to recognize it as an ideal place for study and research. We have appreciated her cheerful, never complaining attitude at all times, and her tine Christian testi- mony. It is with deep respect and gratitude that we, the graduating class of 1963, honor Miss Estella Burk- hart. hmqqmmhhqux. mEjNh W reproofs of instruction are the way of LIFE? Although the word regionalization was practi- cally omitted from the dictionary, the defini- tion aptly describes North Centran new family territory today. Geographically, North Central has been lim- ited to Minnesota as its primary source for financial support since 1935, but by invita- tion of the Minnesota District, in the fall of 1962, the area grew to include Wisconsin, upper Michigan, and South Dakota. Both recruiting of students and fund raising has been enhanced bylthis expansion and once again North Central is moving toward the area support it enjoyed in 1930 when Wisconsin, upper Michigan, the Dakotas, and Montana were a part of North Centralts home territory. Minnesota W?! 9' fie army ? LIMIII '0' A WILb-WIII IIIIITIV '0 .-. r I Xv Dear Graduate: You have reached a very important juncture in life. Your decision to enroll at North Central Bible College was important. The decision which you make now at the completion of your Bible college training will likely determine your future. Be certain of your calling. This can be found by complete commitment to the will of God. Although you are an individual, you do have an obligation to fit into the pattern as an integral part of the Body of Christ. Therefore, the wise counsel of older brethren will be of great value. Recognize that everywhere there is opportunity. Then begin where you are to work for the Master. You may be among those who will be preaching, or you may be doing another type of Christian service. As a preacher you must know that you stand on holy ground. Know and hear the Word of the Lord. Be able to say, Thus saith the Lord, with deep humility of spirit. Nothing else is of value. The voice of man does not bring life and hope. Before man's ear is deafened by death, he must hear, Thus saith the Lord. The pulpit must never be used to display human knowledge and human ability. Exalt Christ and the Word of God. May God give you a heart as tender as that of Jeremiah, the weeping prophet. From the heart come the issues of life, so may your heart be always filled with the boundless grace of God. May your knees bend easily, but your backbone bend never. God equip you with strength to bear the burdens of many. May your eyes behold the glory of the Lord and the reality of human need. May your ears be attuned to the voice of the Holy Spirit. May the Lord touch your lips with live coals from the altar that you may experi- ence the thrill of an anointed ministry. And, may God prosper the labor of your hands and crown your life with the suc- cess that He alone can give. Sincerely yours in Christ, ,5. QWWY; $4th G . There are many avenues of serv- ice from which each student can Choose what he desires to do for God. Teaching a Sunday School class, singing, preaching, passing out tracts are just a few of the activities available. The Christian Service Department is in charge of every Tues- dayas chapel service. In these chapel services, throughout the past year, special speakers, films, and skits have given the stu- dents encouragement and direction in their service for Christ. 85 ASSEMEUEg g; Faithfulness is the key word in Christian Service. Each student is assigned to a Christian Service station, where he is given an op- portunity to participate in the various functions of the church. At Bloomington Assembly of God where Rev. Among these students is James Bryant who serves as youth pastor. 87 M is: 2'0 723 Every Wednesday night throughout the year has found students participat- ing in mission work. Staff Writers Jerry Gunhus Photographer 127 Dennis Masters Editor Kenne th Ross Assistant Editor A rchz've Amid pictures, proportion dials, carbon paper, and pop bottles, the 1963 ARCHIVE came to LIFE. True to precedent, it had its ups and downs, seldom hitting the stride the editor hoped for. There were a few difhculties a the day the polaroid camera broke just before a big deadline, the continual, mysterious disappearance of the ARCHIVE typewriter, the time the camera lens froze while the missions staff posed for a picture atop the Rand Tower, the unforgettable experience of trying to meet our biggest deadline during final exams and the tense moments that en- sued as President Carlson inquired about our progress. ARCHIVE activity was set in motion in the fall when part of the staff participated in a yearbook seminar at Hamline University. Invaluable help was received in the areas of lay- out, copy, and business administration. The life of the staff was not without its social aspects a like the night Editor Masters and his wife were hosts to a pizza party in their home, and the time we spent a delight- ful day at St. Croix State Park. Our new omce offered a privaCy never before known. Join- ing the rest of us itrookiesh was Professor Richard Dressel- haus, who acted as our faculty advisor. Here it is, your 1963 ARCHIVE, the product of inspiration, perspiration, and many hours of frustration. Advisor Richard Dresselhaus gives his support to the staff. Dan Lund gained valuable experience as ARCHIVE photographer. Mary Schafer and Elsie Oster- tag receive helpful hints from Literary Editor Thom Loven. Secretary Sandra Petrinec types one of the many letters sent to churches and businessmen soliciting advertising. Business Manager Dave Thompson grins as he se- cures an ad from the Minnesota District Council. Editor Masters awaits final verdict from approval committee: J. P. Phillipps, G. R. Carlson, and M. C.
