Students of all classes are using my shiny blond surfaces and comfortable choirs. I am told that many of the books on my shelves have come to me from a library across the hall. 'I inquired of the librarian, Miss Burkhort, if some of my scholars of former years have also entered my doors. She told me of a class start- ing in 1957 of which 35 now remoin. I am happy for those who have stayed with the class and have had the privilege to use me. We, the class and the library, wish those who are not with us God's blessings. l'Now thanks be unto God, which always couseth us to triumph in Christ. Christ receives all the credit for our triumph. Our will to submit to Christ has been influenced and challenged by our instructors and the speakers who entered our college doors. John, in writing to the early church said, For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world, and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. We, the Seniors, leave these holls with the promise and admonition on our lips, be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life. 33 S.ALUTATORI UM Joo n A nsell ROBERT ABBOTT St. Paul, Minnesota B.A. in Bible and Theology, Student Council 1, Evangel Four Quartet 1, Four Hymns Quartet 3, Evangelaires 1,2,3,4, Archive 1, Basketball 2,3,4, Class Vice Pres. 3. May I help you?ll Oh yes, I believe there is a room reserved for me. Let's see . . . Mr. Freshman '58, yes, here it is; let me get you a key and please sign this book. I couldn't hear any more, but that was all I needed to know. Yes, the new freshmen were beginning to come. Guess I'd better introduce myself. I'm the door at the main entrance here at North Central. For over 30 years, students have passed my way. As I was telling you, finally, one day in the fall of I958, l4l young people gathered together as the Freshman class. Sharon Turner, Lorrayne Bakken, Byron Krans, Roberta Leslie, Evange- line Heitke, 8i Audrey Paulson were the students in the class who had been awarded scholarships. Later, I over- heard that class elections had taken place and Louis Walton was elected president,- Arnie Gilbertson - Vice president; Judy Dormanen - secretary; and Pat Clare - treasurer. Members of the Student Council were Gerald Abbott, Grace Hagemeister, Karen Larsen, Carl Miller, Richard Moen, and Sharon Turner. The all-school ban- quet, missionary convention, school picnic and Com- mencement were high lights for the students. Vacation passed by: quickly and only 75 students re- turned for the fall semester of I959. Our building had a new look inside for we now used the entire building. This added a new dormitory for the girls and a few 41 class rooms and otlices. Arnie Gilbertson was the new president with Ray Storms serving as vice president, Florence Brodt - secretary, and Lorrayne Bakken - treasurer. A new policy was adopted this year when the Student Council became the Dormitory Floor Represen- tatives. Sharon Wallace, Sharon Turner, Betty Mindel, Jean Burnett, Irma Larsen, Ray Storms, and Paul Schlinz were members of the class who served in this capacity. The missionary convention, high school days, the ban- quet with the theme A symbol of Promise were main events for the spring semester. In the fall of '60, I noticed only 55 students returning for studies. Seems like many things can prevent one from completing school. The oFFicers this year were Gordon Fraser - president,- Victor Hedman e vice presi- dent; Inez Bork - secretary,- and Beverly Ryan - treasurer. Only the young ladies of the class served as Dorm Representatives and they were Gayle Howell, Joy King, Florence Brodt, and Beverly Ryan. The iuniors are looking forward to another missionary convention, banquet, and finally Graduation. I understand that l4 of the Junior class will be graduating and looking for new doors of service and opportunity. The others are making plans to return and finish their 4th year. For me, I must stay; it is very rewarding to see the many students who are here training for the Master's harvest field. November 6, 1960 marked a great event in the history of North Central Bible College as approximately 310 students participated in the fourth stage of Operation Outreach. Under the di- rection of the Christian Service Department, students were placed in groups consisting of a specified leader with 3 to 6 members. With a welI-orgonized program these groups reached 0 total of 60 churches, the farthest point being 320 miles. Operation Outreach has now covered Minnesota four times, besides covering a number of areas in other states since the time of its inception in the school year of 1957-1958. $93 Bonnie Fischer Christian Service Secretary 80 . . , Everybody ready . , , . . . large or small, Jesus will be there . . . . . . scenes on the way . . . u . . a Typical congregation . . . ..o chalk folk . .. . . .
