To Rev. Wilson A. Kcmer, we the graduates of North Central Bible College gratefully dedicate the 1958 Archive. REV. WILSON A. KATTER As Pastor The words that are spoken as you teach are not mere unexper- ienced words of wisdom that you have gleaned from books; true, they are words of wisdom, but they are also words of truth that you prac- tice. You have hidden God's word in your heart. You did not stop there, however. You have successfully strived to teach it to your chil- dren and to the students who sit in your classes. Indeed, the manner in which you walk and conduct yourself in all phases of life expresses the zeol you have for the Lord. To our District Secretory, Rev. W. A. Kotter, who has inspired many to be more patient and zeolous fishers of men, we dedicate the 1958 Archive. As College instructor As District Secretary Honor Rev. I. 0. Miller O Photo by F. It may be a narrow path which is barely visible as it winds up the rocky side of Cl mountain, a path where storms of doubts and fears assoil the traveler. It may lead down into a deep, dark volley filled with sorrows. And it could be a broader, more beaten path that winds its way through soft green meadows and along the cool banks of c murmuring stream, a haven for the weary trav- eler who has been longing for peace, ioy, and content- ment. We, the graduates of 1958, will be treading over many ,paths in the years that lie ahead. Our greatest de- sire is to follow the path of God's choice and to guide others along the most impor- tant path of all, the path that leads to life eternal. Paths to the Uttermost Anywhere with Jesus, Though he Ieadeth me Where the path is rough and long Where the dangers be; Though he taketh from my heart All I love below, Anywhere with Jesus I will gladly go. Anywhere with Jesus; For it cannot be Dreary, dark, or desolate When he is with me; He will love me to the end, Every need supply; Anywhere with Jesus, Should I live or die. Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. Psalms 2:8 - This lovely family, their faces beaming with happiness, leave their loved ones and friends to follow God's call to the mission field. Missionary Convention Millions Are Waiting was thevtheme of the 28th annual missionary convention held during the week of March 10-15. Our realization of the need of spreading the Light was renewed as we listened to speakers from the four corners of the world. Rev. 8t Mrs. Harry Petersen, Japan; Rev. 8t Mrs. David Kensinger, Costa Rica, Central America; Rev. 8i Mrs. Morris Williams, Nyasaland, East Africa,- Rev. 8t Mrs. Mock, formerly missionaries to West Indies-reappainted to Peru; and Marcella Dart, Indonesia,- returned as alumni speakers. Rev. 8t Mrs. A. N. Trotter, formerly missionaries to Africa were also speakers. The offering goal for the convention was $1,000, and much effort was put forth that it might be reached. 17 We Must Work for Advisor, lone Soltctu The Great Commission to the Church is still valid, and will be so until the Lord Jesus Christ comes again. Today it holds forth a greater, 0 more urgent, and more promising challenge than ever before. This Missionary challenge is being accepted by the many North Central Bible College students who have answered, Here cm I, send me. Over seventy-five missionary alumni have already made this prayer a reality. North Central Bible College has gained the top position in total and per capita giving of all the Assemblies of God Bible Colleges. His Spirit alone has inspired the students to do this. We have seen the rod of God stretched out, and the miracles that have followed after faithful prayer. The Lord of Elijah still lives and he who will use the mantle of faith can still smite the waters and cause them to port before the all- powerful Name of God. The following pages will pro- vide the names of our eleven prayer groups which meet weekly to study needs of each individual field, but the most important minis- try is the student's ministry of prayer. Upward! Sometimes moving with the speed of a racer, sometimes struggling to even keep plodding along, so move the students along the Path of Progress. With each additional year in school, improvement is made as they ad- vance toward the obiective they have set for their lives. Yet, this path does not end the day they graduate. The learning process never ceases. All through life as one goal is reached there will always be another to strive for until the final goal is reached when the path terminates at the Pearly Gates. press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Wondering, waiting, and deciding where would be their next stop. It seems that 155 of such students, of which 24 remain, full of knowledge, zeal, and apprehension, came to N.C.B.C.,-their Christian testimony to main- tain- and to further their education. Now, a previous history has been wirtten of the ofticers and accomplishments of this class, so these few lines will iust be committed to what, as seniors, they are doing and let it pass. There were faces that were new as this class began last fall; Wes and Meldy Smith-Bob Ludwig too, who came to supplement their call. Dick Balken, Herb Murphy his veep, Meldy the scribe-Finance Dale. Upon these officers blessings heap for managing all the detail. Vital statistics in this history; congratulations Poppenhagen, Strand and Balken, Valedictorian Kroll, Edwards and Murphy who took T. J.'s advice on First Corinthians Seven. Herbert Murphy Through our schedule thus we went Phillipps, Phillipps, Levang, and Phillipps. Are they lawyers, doctors, management? No, teachers giving Gospel nuggets. Caps, gowns, ceremonies, invitations, the end begins to unravel as seniors advertise their situations, have degree-will travel. Lord, send the old time power thus goes the familiar refrain to prepare us in this needy hour to gather the ripened grain. Towns in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Indiana, North and South Dakota, Pennsylvania, Nebraska, Michi- gan, and many other states were the sources of these paths. Students from these various places composed the Freshman class. Our freshman year was a busy one, and, as new students, we looked with respect at the upperclassmen, who had traveled the path before us. It was at the beginning of this school year that North Central became a four year school, issuing degrees as well as diplomas. David Nelson was elected as the President Of the first year class; Waldemar Zastrow, Vice-President; Delores Gott, Secretary; LaVonne Lee, Treasurer. One event we really enioyed was the Freshman Class party held at the Gospel Tabernacle. Food and entertainment in abun- dance-but best of all, the blessedness of Gods presence. Summer came, and out paths were separated for a three month period. . Slightly decreased in number We once more ioined ranks in the Fall of 1956. This year David Nelson, Ronald Masters, Carolyn Parsley, and Maxine Ehrat were chosen as the leaders of our class. One bright spot on our pathway was the Missionary Con- vention held in March. It was our privilege to help break the goal for giving, which was $10,000 for the year. As in our Freshman year, the convention was a real source of spiritual growth. Under the ministry of Rev. Edwin Barg we were challenged to go deeper with God. For many days the Lord dealt with us showing us our failures and helping us make ourselves right with Him and others. Valedictorian Corrine Murphy 61 The Spring of our Sophomore year our path led us to Calhoun Beach Hotel for the annual Junior-Senior Banquet. As a result of the change to include the fourth year, we had the privilege of honoring the graduates of both the third and fourth year classes. Rev. Emil Balliet, a former teacher of our school, was the speaker. He was richly anointed of God as he ministered to us at school and at the Banquet. Once again the doors of N.C.B.l. closed and our paths were divided for the summer activities of Daily Vacation Bible School, Camp meetings, Revival services, and work. Returning as school opened again, We had. to accustom our- selves to the school's new name: North Central Bible College. As a College we received certain privileges not formerly attainable. We also discovered that more of our classmates were missing. Some had been married,' and others were engaged. The Christmas-Missionary play proved to be a great blessing to the students as well as to the many outsiders who were able to see it. Our class officers were Ronald Masters, Clarke Gage, Corrine Murphy, and Carolyn Parsley. Plans for another Junior-Senior Banquet were made. Collecting dues, ordering announcements, and preparing for graduation occupied a good share of the Spring months. Although it was a busy time, we very much enioyed the Presence and Blessing of God at the Missionary Convention. Graduation brought our paths to another point of separation and we went forward 27 strong, with faith that God would guide and lead us as we traveled along the pathway of life. Paths of Service 0 Master, let me walk with thee In lowly paths of service free; Tell me thy secret; help me bear The strain of toil, the fret of care. Help me the slow of heart to move By some clear, winning word of love; Teach me the wayward feet to stay, And guide them in the homewarcl way. Teach me Thy patience; still with Thee In closer, dearer company, In work that keeps faith sweet and strong, In trust that triumphs over wrong; In hope that sends a shining ray Far down the future's broadening way; In peace that only Thou canst give, - With Thee, 0 Master, let me live. Washington Gladden . . .who then is willing to consecrate his service this day unto the LORD? l Chronicles 29:5 The CHRISTIAN SERVICE DEPARTMENT is one of the most essential features of our curriculum because it provides an opportunity to put educa- tion to work. The experience gained by these ac- tivities is valuable to the student; wisdom is gained by using that which has been acquired. Among the activities included in the Christian Service Department are missions, Sunday school teaching, tract distribution, and week-end services. In these various capacities the student finds an outlet of service in ministry of word and song. The primary purpose of the Christian Service Department is to reach lost souls with the Gospel of Christ. Students do not conduct these services just because they are assignments, but because there is a longing in each heart to be of service to the Lord. All ready for a Christian service trip. Roger leads a rousing song service. No matter where we gather, Jesus will be there. Musical numbers are a treat in any service. 103 Operation Outreach, organized under The supervision of the Christian Service De- partment, was an enlarged vision of student ministry, which God richly blessed. The stu- dent body was sent in groups to cover the majority of churches in Minnesota, Novem- ber 24, and Wisconsin, March 16. These days will always hold many memories of God's goodness fo the students of North Central Bible College. And then I pause and listen Perchance He'd speak to me, Whisper words of comfort Tell me of His will. Show me the path to follow A hungry soul to fill. In the shadows of the evening When the sun has hid its head, I kneel and thank my Saviour For guidance from above. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.
