FRANK J. LINDQUIST To the founder of our school, who through the years has stood as a bulwark of faith against countless odds, ever pressing on that our school might take iths place in the recognized realm of Christian Education; we, the class of 1948, respectfully dedicate this volume of the Archive. E43 MISS MAXINE WILLIAMS Benevolent was the act of God when He placed you in our midst, for you have been more than a teacher to us;you have been a source of strength and inspiration that will ever remain with us as we go forth building for the Master. E51 0112' Salim! EH flistary 17f Warm 6mm! 13th Jnstitzztc North Central Bible Institute had its humble beginning in the Minneapolis Gospel Tabernacle building at Thirteenth Avenue and Lake Street, where, in October 1930, the first class of consecrated young men and young women received their Christian training. Godly men of vision, officials and directors of the Insti- tute, ever sought larger horizons, until at the end of seven years, a complete cycle, the Tabernacle could no longer take care of the increasing student body. In 1937 the new home, a beautiful five-story structure facing Elliot Park was purchased. Crowned with the blessing and approval of God, today the number has grown from 26 students in the class of 1930 to an enrollment of 468. The 101 in the graduating class bring the ,total number of graduates to over 800. More than 35 missionaries have gone to distant fields a- cross the seas and hundreds of splendid young men and women minister in the homeland. Kampus 5mm E81 611mm? Psalm 119:140 tThy word is very pure: therefore thy servant loveth it.i Yea, what does the child of God hold more dear to his heart than the precious Word of God! From its sacred contents flows a con- stant stream of blessing to the heart that earn- estly seeks the riches of its depths. 'As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.' tThy testimonies are wonderful therefore doth my soul keep themi. 'The entrance of thy word giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple.' Herein lie also the promises of salvation, daily strength, constant care, loving watchfulness, supplying of needs, divine guidance, grace for the trials, divine healing, the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, the hope of our Lord's second coming and a resurrected life with Him, throughout eternity. Therefore, knowing these promises to be our very own, we should have the sacred scripture hid- den within our hearts so that we shall be able to give a reason for this great hope that is ours. We have felt a power emanating from the Word that has given us faith to believe God for mighty things. The Word has indeed been a tool to unlock the hid- den mysteries of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. tHeaven and earth shall pass away, but my word shall not pass away.t Matt. 24:35 'Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.t E843 Philippians 2:16 Wielding forth the word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ, that e not run in vain, neither laboured in vain? E85 Prayer - A Cool We read of Prayer long before God directly or- dained it, and in such a way that we can believe prayer to be intuitive. The Psalmist uttered a great universal truth when he said 1O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.' Psalm 65:2. . When the children of Israel prayed, II Chron- icles 7:1-3, 'the glory of the Lord filled the house And the priests could not enter into the house of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord had filled the Lord's house. And when all the children of Is- rael saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the Lord upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the Lord, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth forever.l During the past year we, too, have sought the Lord in prayer, and we have had the joy of seeing God manifest His glory through these earthern ves- sels of ours. We have felt His mighty power surg- ing through our beings, and have realized our human insufficiency and fraility to do anything in our- selves. We know it is only through prayer that we can be lbuilt up a spiritual priesthood,l and thus fulfill the tasks which God would.have us to per- form. Prayer is the tool that unfghks heaven and sets our heart aflame. Luke 11:1 'Lord teach us to pray.1 E863 Psalms 27:14 thait on the Lord; be of good cour- age, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord? E873 giviay - A Coal Within our student body there has pre- . vailed a spirit of selfydenial and sacrifie cial giving. We believe the gift of giving cheerfully from the heart is as much a gift from God as any other. Because of the love that the students of North Central have for those outside the kingdom and because of their desire that others might also hear the Good News of Sal- vation, they have given liberally of their tithes and offerings during the past year. This has meant great sacrifice on the part of many, but we read in Acts 20:35,iIt is more blessed to giwe than to receive.i These are the words spoken by our Master huilder, and if we would follow Him, we, too, must make this a living reality within our lives. We who would build wisely for the Master must lay a firm foundation grounded upon the Word of God and other rehmed subjects. For this purpose specific study hours have been instituted to permit every one to give of his best to the study of God's Word. It is a privilege beyond expression, for which we do thank God. We have a price- less endowment of spiritual growth as welL We have learned that the Spirit-filled life. is the Spirit-controlled life. It is the Word-filled life. It is the Christ-glorify- ing life. The Psalmist has expressed every mood in music in his great themes. Music has been a comfort to the weary and a source of strength to the the faint. Our excellent music department at North Central has been the means of in- spiring a greater love and appreciation for this art. During the past year the various depart- ments of this organization have been much in demand in the work of the Lord. E1013 Alzmmi Associatim Marian Pritchard, Assistant Secretary; Martha Thomas, Editor of Centralian; Wlllls Long, Vice-President; James Kofahl, President Alyce Phillipps, Assistant Secretary; Dbnald Edson, Treasurer Graduation time, for most of us, invokes a two-fold emotional response -- a chill and a challenge. We are chilled by the thought of severing the old ties of study and fellowship, but warmly challenged by the persistent call to service at home or abroad. From its very inception. North Central Bible Institute has been 'thrusting forth laborers into the whitened harvest field', and the Alumni Association, organized in 1934 numbers among its members many pastors, evangelists, and missionaries who have answered the call. The challenge then is being met by the purposeful determination of consecrated young people, but there is still the chilly expectation of disrupted friendships. This is the place where the Alumni Association feels especially qualified to apply the healing balm. This is accom- plished through the publication of iThe North Centralian', which is the official organ of the group, and by the annual Alumni fellowship services held each year just prior to the Commencement excercises. This periodiof fellowship is closed each year with a banquet reception for the express purpose of welcoming the graduation class into the Alumni fold. We pray that each passing year will find the Alumni Association rendering greater services to the Alumni and students of North Central Bible Institute until Jesus comes; 111023 Mastcr 19 Kuildzrs Paul, writing to the Corinth- ian believers, in I Cor. 3:5-15, devotes a paragraph to the subject of 'building for Godl. As preach- ers, teachers and students about to graduate, we are responsible T. J. Jones to God for ou1 work. The simile used in this scripture is introduced be- cause of what he has to say of the different kinds of tea- chers. Paul was a wise Master Builder a skilful architect. First he lays the foundation. This is a very important part of the building. This foundation presents Christ, His Virgin birth, His mighty atonement, and His triumphant re- surrection. Let us, too, pay great attention to the found- atlon. Next comes the superstructure, that which is built on the Foundation. The context refers to carrying those founded in Christ on to a deeper knowledge of God. Two kinds of material may be used in raising the superstructure. One feeds the flames, the other resists the fire. In view of our responsibility to God, we must take heed how we build, and what sort of material we use. If we use hay, wood and stubble, our building will blaze on that day of inspection. It is worthless to teach a Gospel that does not in- clude cross-bearing and self denial, but soothes the nat- ural man with popular traditions instead of Truth. This is wood, hay and stubble. Gold, silver, and precious stones constitute the mat- erial we may use in building. These represent the good word of God, doctrines from the quarries of Thuth. The worth or worthlessness of our building will be tested - the Day will declare it. It shall be tried with fire! Builders beware! The eyes of flame of our Saviour- Judge will expose all sham and unreality. Oh, the search- ing ordeal of that.Day! Master Builders, let us build with incombustible materials. The passage under cnnsideration does not close with- out stating the double result of the testing of the build- ing. Work of good quality will be rewarded. To hear His 'Well Donel, will be worth all the effort; on the other hand, the work of the Builder may be burned up and the Builder saved so as by fire. Builders, build for Eternity. 51053 Left to right Harold Scott, Junior Rep, Roger Haas, Sales Manager Monroe Grams, Business Manager Guy Trower, Editor Verner Alm, Assistant Editor Thelma Barth, Secretary Margaret Schuller, Treasurer Artilm Staff Slylmy Off Left to Right Norman Fjordbak, Artist Margaret Harden, Artist Alice Heath, Art Editor Betty Jane Wiley, Advertising Betty Jane Haas, Advertising Editor Rachel Hartwick, Literary Ivah Ball, Literary Editor Ione Soltau, Literary Standing Ben Mazurek, Photographer John Mazurek, Photographer E1041 A utzzynzplzs Our Advertisers . . .
