Iesus said, til am the light of the world; he that followeth me shall not walk ih darkness, but shall have the light of life? As each succeeding class has sat under the teaching and ministry of a faculty whose lives have been permeated With the power of God, they have been made to realize in. a deeper sense tithe depths both of the riches and Wisdom of God. Youth-for-Christ speakers, evangelists, pastors and prominent musicians. are a few of the many responsible positions held by the faculty. In addition to teaching in our school, they hold executive offices in the North Central District of the Assemblies of God. Our teaching staff has set forth a true code of Christian living by their individual Spirit-anointed examples. We shall ever be grateful for their loyal service and unselfish concern for the eternal welfare of mankind. Their com- pelling vision has stimulated each student to present his body a living sacri- fice, holy, acceptable unto God, to go forth to the fields. It is written tMan shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God? In our individual classes we look into the Scriptures and obtain a glimpse into the vast richness of this source of everlasting Life. To raise the scholastic standard of North Central Bible Institute, we have increased our curriculum to four years instead of the former three. Those who have not completed high school form the Freshman Class; while students who have graduated or pass the elimination test make up the newly formed Sophomore Class. The Iimior and Senior Classes complete our training. We appreciate the Valuable lessons taught by our anointed faculty as they have broken the Bread of Life to us. The three hundred and seventy-seven young men and women studying here have come feeling the call of God upon their lives to prepare themselves that they may go- forth to the fields ! CLASS OF 1947 SENIOR CLASS It seems but a little while ago that a new class assembled in the Chapel of North Central Bible Institute and began its studies to prepare for the great task which lies before Christendom. Now we, the class of '47, have completed our studies and are stepping forth with the Word of God to our various fields of service for the Master. We recall many happy times we have spent together, times such as the rainy skip day, Junior and Senior Fellowships, and other outings. There are precious memories of learning together the wonders of our God under the teaching of anointed men. Then, too, there have been times of fasting and prayer, and times of hardships and trials which we have shared. Never shall we forget the days when books were laid aside, and we sat at the feet of Jesus, drinking in His wondrous blessings. Just as we left home ties to come to Bible School, we now leave friendship ties. With our hearts filled with determination we look at the mission before us, that we may fulfill the great command of our Master when He said, HGo ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. ' In our class we find students from various occupations and coming from all parts of the country, including many young men who have returned from the armed service. During the year a strong bond of christian love and fellow- ship has been established, and each day sees new gains toward the goal to which all are striving; namely, service in the whitened harvest fields of the Master. This is the first year that a Freshman class has been organized to constitute the fourth year of schooling at N.C.B.I. Now that we have become accustomed to Bible School life and its surroundings, we are looking forward with even greater expectancy to the three remaining years of our preparation. FRESHMEN OFFICERS PRESIDENT ANTHONY BENIGAS VICE-PRESIDENT WAYNE CRAWFORD SECRETARY LOIS BERNDT TREASURER OMER KALLEVIG STUDENT COUNCIL BONNIE BRENDT DALE COVERT Not shown in pictures Paul Hull hEvonnN htSpirit of the living God fall fresh on me is a prayer frequently heard from the lips of N.C.B.I. students as they seek a refreshing touch in communing with God. In private devotions many have proven that ttthey that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength: they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint? Often each studenttpauses to praise God for His faithfulness and to seek divine guidance to cope with the numerous cares and problems of the day. Hidden from the world in the solitude of his own room or tn one of the prayer rooms of North Central, prayer, praise and intercession may be heard as the student pours out devotion to his heavenly Father. It is during these times of waiting upon the Lord that many have been led into a deeper walk With Christ While others have felt the divine call to go forth to the fields. THE WORD 0F GOD OUR STRENGTHUF LIFE DEVUT UNAL EXPUUNDING THE WORD CUMMUNIUN imam CHALLENGES As we survey the fields of the world, we recognize our opportunities to sow the seed of eternal life by taking up our responsibilities and fulfilling Christ's command, iiLift up your eyes, and look on the fields, for they are white already to harvest? Joining us this year are many servicemen, who, having witnessed the distressing economic and spiritual status of their various posts of military duty in foreign fields. are now earnestly studying, praying, and preparing with renewed zeal to return with the Gospel. Many others have been stirred as they meet weekly in one of the ten Missionary Bands. Here they study the geographic, economic and spiritual conditions of the country of their interest. Approximately eighty-two young men and women have received calls to these different fields. This year the students have given over $5000 to help fulfill the rhissionary Challenge. The year was climaxed With an annual Missionary Convention in which missionaries presented the countries where they have labored, and the Mise sionary groups portrayed the foreign needs as a challenge to others to goe ferth to the fields ! Isaiah 628 Africa, vast and dark, reaches With pleading hands for the GOSpel of eternal life, causing the members of, the band to earnestly kneel in fervent prayer in answer to the call, Who will go? Unafraid, we accept the Challenge, for we know that He who ministereth seed to the sower Will also supply our daily bread and multiply the sown Word. ALASKA ALASKA hewe wait for light, but behold obscurity; for brightness, but we walk in darkness? Isaiah 5929 To the north of us lies frozen Alaska, the land of the midnight sun. With its evil influences of liquor, wide-spread juvenile delinquency, de- grading moral conditions, Alaska presents an open door for the living Word of God. Realizing the insufficient numbers of workers now laboring in this field, our band is praying, studying and planning to bring the warmth of Christ to these needy and forgotten people. CENIRAL AMERICA MEXICO AND CENTRAL AMERICA ttGo ye therefore and teach all nations? hiatt. 98193 To What countries could this command be more aptly applied than illiterate but awaken- ing Mexico and Central America? As they have suffered secularly for lack of trained teachers, so they have suffered religiously for want of spirit-filled leaders. The resulttthe people walk in gross ignorance of the Christ of life, love and liberty. What a blessed opportunity this is for each of us to give himself wholeheartedly to the fulfilling of Christ's teaching commission among our hungry neighbors. BHINA-JAPAN CHINA AND JAPAN wBut ye shall receive powereand ye shall be witnesses-zuzto the uttermost part of the earth? Acts 1:8 Millions of diseased, famine-stricken Chinese and Japanese now turn to us for material help after the toilsome years of warfare. Yet far greater than their desire for temporal benefits is their dire spiritual need of Christ as scores are going into Christless graves. Faced With this opportunity to minister to the hungry souls, we have united for prayer and study of their modes of living that we . 3' - m e .. , 4. 9 might better serve them. - A . x - L . - EUROPEAN EUROPE And he said unto them, tGo ye into all the world. and preach the gospel to every creature? BIark 16:15 Above the tumult of sin, the noise of cities being rebuilt, and the bickerings of peace- making, war-torn, poverty-stricken Europe cries for the everlasting peace that is found in the Saviour of the world. John 20:21b In the rushing Cities, along the crowded beaches, the quiet country-side, in fact, all around us are many Who are seeking satis- faction in a fast moving age which has forgot- ten God. Stirred by the waywardness of the careless throngs, we of the Homeland Band strive daily to bring Christ, the Prince of Peace, to our tellowmen. INDIA 0Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost paTts 0f the earth for thy possession? Psa. Q28 A greater challenge has never been placed before us than that of India's teeming millions Who grope in a darkness we can not fathome her 27,000,000 child Widows under fifteen years of age, her rigid system of caste, the powerful grip of demonology, called Hinduism, are a mute testimony of the need. With this Vision before them, many from this band have accepted the challenge by denying themselves, planning to take up their responsibilities and follow Him to needy India. ISLANDS OF THE SEA ISLANDS OF THE SEA ttethe isles shall wait upon me and on mine arm shall they trust? Isaiah 51:5b As we lift our eyes toward the warm, humid islands of the sea, we find jungle marshes, sluggish rivers and steep rugged mountains. The small graceful people are extremely polite, but very sad for they have not found joy in their ancestor worship and rituals. Although our band has been organized only two years, many of us have caught the vision and are preparing to go forth with God's precious truths to the waiting isles! PALESHNE PALESTINE ttBut go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as ye g0, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand? Matthew 10:6,? Scattered throughout the world we find the homeless Iew, God's chosen people. Many have already returned to their land of promise, Palestine, and countless others patiently await their opportunity to enter. The great hardships and persecutions the Iews are enduring as they look for the return of their Messiah has caused our band to unite in prayer that they might once again find God's plan for them. .SUUIH AMERICA SOUTH AMERICA ttSir, we would see Jesus? John 12:21b Neglected, pleasure-loving South America has become the continent of opportunity. Real- izing the emptiness of her religious ceremonies, she eagerly grasps for the reality found in the full gospel of Christ. This is the time to Win our southern neigh- bors to Christ before they turn to other sources for their spiritual needs. Will you help us meet the challenge? ttus Lying within the heart of man are the dormant chords of music Which await the touch of the Master's hand to burst forth i171 joyous strains of praise and adoration to the most High God. Recognizing the value of the ministry of music, N.C.B.I. has arranged for instruction in many branches of the art. Classroom work in music theory includes study in rudiments, conducting, harmony, solfeggio. Private lessons are being given in piano, and many musical instruments. The students benefit greatly from the group training offered by the choir, choruses and band. The students who have a deep appreciation for music are striving to develop their musical talents to better enable them to go forth to the fields. The aim this year has been to give each student a well balanced program to equip him for more effective service. The work has been divided into seven categories: namely, churches, missions, tracts, street meetings, visita- tion, shops, and a special group to fill unexpected openings. The student body has been divided into twenty-five groups Which rotate every six weeks. Many students assist in local Assemblies, teaching Sunday School classes and singing in choirs. Each student counts it a privilege to have the opportunity of giving forth the Water of Life, for the Scripture tells us, ThBut whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life? This department has developed a compelling urge to go forth to the fields. THE WORD OF GOD UUR WATER'UFleFE OUR ADVl-SURS Miss Marcella Dorff, student adviser, and Rev. B. D. E. Having seen spiritual and economic drought, lives being lived in squalor and dying Without hope in the areas where they served, many feel called to return to these countries in missionary endeavor,- therefore, they are now training and preparing to go ttforth to the fields. tcnvmts ttAnd the Lord shall guide thee continually and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones; and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water whose waters fail not? Bible students are happy to be able to ask Christ to be their Guide in all that they do, be it in Student Council, class activities, studies OI work. Feeling the need of relaxation from the daily routine, provision has been made for an annual Skip Day for each class, various class get-togethers, Junior and Senior Fellowship, and, climaxing the year, is the Hall-schoolw picnic. As a result of these activitiese many acquaintances have been formed, and as we have learned to cooperate one with another, stronger bonds of friendship have been woven.
