Dress of Yesterday Reflects Formal Style In our earlier days, student life was governed by a more rigid set of rules. For example, dress codes were strictly observed. Young ladies of high standing would never be found wearing anything less than a dress of ankle length; slacks were exclusively for the young men . For a mere $1 .75 a young lady could purchase a heavy Galatia middy blouse . . . with silk lacings in front, high lacings at sides, French cuffs, long sleeves and pocket. A discerning young man could buy a dashing new two and three button roll lapel jacket, goodfitting trousers, and an athletic vest in gray, blue, tan and brown tones and in plaids, stripes or broken checks — an amazing buy at just $12.50. The look of today is one of variety, almost anything goes . Denim is IN for casual wear or dress . Guys and gals top their jeans with an assortment of T shirts, fitted sweaters, and Indian gauze. When the girls shed their jeans for a more dressy look, knee to midi length A-line skirts or dresses are fashion- able . However, any length may be seen. Gone are the muted pastels for the guys; mod citrus and jewel-toned leisure suits replaced the dulled browns, blues, and grays. Open-neck floral print shirts complete the leisure look. Today ' s Look Is 8
