Considering the far-flung endeavors of this remarkable man. the Tamarack Staff inquired. How do you envision your job? John Rodkey replied; “Many have asked that question. May I answer? It isn’t a job. it is a profession—a calling! It is big enough to care about people problems, It is small enough to shed a tear for people hurts; It is big enough to cause joy, exhuberance. laughter, delight! It is small enough to feel pain, failure, anxiety, fear. It is big enough to welcome each new day as the greatest. It is small enough to cause me to fall into bed exhausted at night. My profession? Coach Art Bauer sums it all up. “Even though we didn't win that many games, there was a lot of spirit.” Individual records were set by Rob Sivret and R« d Fort. Rob Sivrct set an all-time career record for yardage gained hv a pass receiver. His total of 816 yards topped the previous mark of 806. Quarterback Rod Fort won the passing division with SO completions out of 128 attempts. Team captains were Wayne Davis, Del Johnson and Dan Sims. The 1973 season was dedicated to a former team manager and friend. Gary Ashley, who was fatally stricken with cancer in 1972. Gary’s spirit, determination and good sportsmanship were an inspiration to all who knew him and thus the team wore black wrist bands in memoriam. 40 Team member are; Row I left (o right: Jeff Davit. Judy Cutler was named the Sports Writers’ Association Student Athlete of the Week in October for her tennis ability. The team has won the City Title nine consecutive seasons. They spent 5 days at camp in Kllensburg where they learned cheers routines, crowd psychology, and competed for ribbons. They were awarded a blue, superior; red, excellent; and a white, outstanding ribbon for their skills. Cheering at all the various sports’ events’ events, painting spirit posters, making tags, performing in Girls' League functions and putting on pep cons have been the cheerleaders’ activities.
