A Teacher Affects Eternity: (She) Can Never Tell Where (Her) Influence Stops — H.B. Adams With these words we dedicate the 1969 Tamarack to Mrs. Helen Beaver, who retired this year. A graduate of the University of Tennessee, Mrs. Beaver has taught in many schools. Among these are the Pueblo Junior College, Pueblo, Colorado; University of Washington, Seattle, Washington; and the University of Montana, Missoula, Montana. Since 1951, Mrs. Beaver has been on the North Central High School home economics staff. At the time of her coming to North Central, the famous North Central Doll Shop was yet being produced. Throughout the years of its presentation, Mrs. Beaver designed and made the costuming for the show. Sewing, tail oring and child development have been subjects specifically under her direction in the home economics department. Upon retirement Mrs. Beaver and her husband, retired engineer, Lewis K. Beaver, plan to travel, visiting in Hawaii and spending more time in Alaska with her daughter and her family. Summing up the feeling of countless students who have known Mrs. Beaver is the remark of former student, Mrs. Carol Nybert Quigley: She is to me the perfect example of a lady ' one of those rare people who make you realize the only limitations in life are those we set upon ourselves. 20

School board members: John Warn Byron Swanson Gordon Luscher Helen Rymond Orville Barnes Dr. Albert Ayars Hope for Success Lies in Common Understanding North Central ' s educational system ran smoothly as the result of successive discussions between our principal, John P. Rodkey, and superintendent, Dr. Albert Ayars. Judgment was passed on many issues, from the general to the particular, as they were reviewed by the Board. The student most often observed the School Board ' s effectiveness as new personnel were engaged to fill vacated positions. The School Board endeavored to keep the different aspects of the school as up-to-date as was possible. North Central was fortunate to enroll James B. Green as a student this fall. After careful study of the qualifications of the many schools in the United States whose curricula include a program for the visually handicapped, he chose North Central. Principal John Rodkey and James Green John Rodkey chats with Dr. Albert Ayars
