TEWINKEL Thoughts on a Golden Anniversary With the publication of another fine Tamarack, we celebrate the golden year of a wonderful high school and the graduation of a record class. But, to paraphrase a loved statesman, Hin a larger sense ALL the years have been golden. Our gener- ation has lived in a golden age, the age of great ad- vantages for the common man, the age of fantastic educational opportunities for all who are wise enough to profit by them. From the halls of a fine public school have poured for 50 years the greatest potential a nation produces -youth of substantial training and sound char- acter values: Doctors, attorneys, business leaders, educators, scientists, clergy, statesmen, fathers and mothers of integrity. North Central glories in their accomplishments. They are the gold it has refined for America. And what of the class of '59f' With you go our good wishes and highest hopes. You have left behind a perpetual record of bank deposits. Colleges, great industries and financial houses through the years will inquire about you. North Central can help you. Your past record is important. The future is even more so. We hope that people will say in describing you, He has one of the ablest minds in the community? 'fHe's always on the ball. By the very act of finishing high school you have demonstrated that you have a mind adequate for future building. The job is only started. Education does not stop with any graduation. Make it a life- long challenge! Just two more injunctions to go with our good wishes: , l. You've known the bounty of 12 good years of schooling. Perpetuation of our American way of life demands your loyalty to public education and your support, in turn, of comparable opportunities for those who follow you. Z. Learning is not enough. The basis for a suc- cessful life is deeply rooted in character and spir- itual values. Never slight them. May all your years be Golden ones.

Reaching its golden anniversary this yeai is just one milestone in a galaxy of events -all marked with that precious item, quality. Students in their undergrzuluate years reflect the ex- cellent instruction provided at North Central. As adults in the community, they are recognized as leaders. Every- where they display a spirit of co-operation, responsibility and a sincere interest in school and community affairs. Vice-Principal Lowry Bennett talks with Jim Delameter and Don Heyer about an academic problem Ivlr. Edward Gill, as office assistant adds another student to his enrollment chart. Many duties fall on the shoulders of Vice- Principal Lowry Bennett. Presiding at con- vocations, directing football practices as head line coach and advising the newly formed boys' cheering section are some of his more ,pleasant assignments. All disci- plinary problems are also handled by Mr. Bennett. Room 227 plays an important part in every student's academic life. Schedule changes, class adjustments and requisitions are obtained from Edward Gill, office assist- ant, and George Theodorson, school treas- urer.
